I code in PHP, feel free to ask me question if you have any, I just love casual coding.
Regarding major in graphic design, our mod caffeinated is actually going to study in a famous art school soon. IMO, it all comes down to what is your priority, interest or salary? Let's be honest, web designer generally wouldn't earn as much compared to say if you have a medical degree, but if your interest isn't there you might not do well in the degree you picked. The worst case is you hated what you studied and wanted to switch after getting the first degree.
Weight your priorities, ask yourself how much interest you have in the different choices you have, discuss with your parents, relatives or senior graduated from similar programs etc. as they all have work experience and know the job market better, by then you'll hopefully find an answer. Good luck! |

this is so hard... I like art and all, but i dun wanna draw for people Dx Either way, it'll be an obligation if i pick it as a job... If it is going to be an obligation, might as well as doing other things you know ^^
Maybe i should be in business, get rich and retire early Oh well, all will be well i suppose ... I hate growing up |

Hi H_e_a_r_t
Don't worry about it too much.
Like eyn said, if you're not sure about it, just talk about it with people you know, and you will eventually find something.
Its pretty ironic, but when eyn said:

I felt my stomach jolt a little: this is exactly what happened to me. I got my degree last week (a pharmaceutical related one), but it wasn't until I was in my final year until I realised that THIS is not what I want to spend my entire life doing, and I had decided I was going to go for another degree in a field I'm more comfortable with (computers, or maybe engineering)
But do you know why this happened to me? I didn't discuss about my future with anyone.
I did the degree cos my friends were doing it, and I ended up spending three years feeling very 'uncomfortable'.
But there's still time, so I'm not too worried. And you shouldn't worry about your situation either.
I wouldn't recommend going for a medical degree if you're unsure. In the worst case, not only would you spend 5+ years doing something you don't like, you might end up damaging someone in the future because your heart isn't in the job.
Business might be a good idea, because you can set-up a business of ANYTHING now-days. So then your experience and skills with graphics and web designing can take a more 'productive' route.
Growing up is the same as living life.
Don't hate it, enjoy it.
If you don't like the way things are (or might be), just try something else.
Whatever decision you make, keep going forwards and don't look back.
Oh, and I've never done any PHP coding in my life (just C++ and some HTML).
Sorry if I've just bored the hell out of you.

You don't REALLY need to know PHP unless you're going to get into the more interactive sites like forums, CMS's, etc.
But you can incorporate snippets of PHP into HTML if needed... |
