OK, so does any one else other than me just love Wong Kar-wai's films?

I recently purchased 2046 just because of some strange urge to, and for the past couple of weeks I have been searching for more and more of his films.

So far I have seen:

Basically they are classed as romance/love films, although they are not your standard "couple find each other, fall in love, live happily ever after" Hollywood-style love movie (which suck). They are amazing films, with such perfect cinematography by the hugely talented director!

Anyway, so what are your views on his films, and are there any other films by him (or others) that you think are equally good?

My brother is a big Wong Kar Wai fan. Seriously, his way of directing is really unique. And his film has really deep artistic meaning ( which I can't appreciate). I must say his favorite actor is Tony Leung (he's every director's dream actor)
You should really watch :
Chungking Express ( a classic Wong Kar Wai film, A must watch!)
Happy Together (set in Argentina about a gay Chinese couple, rumor has it that Tony Leung was cheated in to acting his role in this film, but anyway it won an award!whee!!)
Fallen Angels (kind of like a sequel to ChungKing Express)

Cool, I didn't think anyone was ever going to reply to this thread Giggle

Yes I have now seen all of Wong Kar-wai's films (with the exception of "My Blueberry Nights"). They really are amazing! He certainly does have a very unique style of filming!!!

I have now seen:
As Tears Go By - Amazing debut film!
Days of Being Wild - First part of a brilliant trilogy
In The Mood For Love - Could be his best? not sure?
2046 - Amazing final chapter to the "love" trilogy
ChungKing Express - Brilliant film, this and fallen angels were just "breaks" from the editing of Ashes of Time as well!!!!
Fallen Angels - Just great!!!
Ashes of Time - Epic film!
Happy Together - Brilliant, one of Tony Leung's/Leslie Cheung's best performances!!!

Yes, Tony Leung wasn't told that he had to do a gay sex scene in Happy Together until he arrived at the set, which I thought was quite funny :-) . But yes - He really is an amazing actor - Hero, Hard Boiled, Infernal Affairs, etc. And he's in the new John Woo film "The Battle of Red Cliff" which is going to be awesome!!! (I'm a big John Woo fan too :-) )

I thought Chungking Express and Fallen Angels were about the same in quality terms - Both amazing! I also watched Ashes of Time, which was also really good

Thanks for the recommendations!

hey if you enjoy wong kar wai, I can really recommend the films of pen-ek ratanaruang. he did a fantastic movie a few years ago called 'last life in the universe.' it's a thai movie which stars asano tadanobu (chara's husband) as a suicidal japanese man in bangkok who falls for a thai woman. it's a pretty surreal and dreamy romance and was captured by christopher doyle who usually works with wong kar wai. last life in the universe is available in any decent video store and its follow-up, 'invisible waves' should be available on ebay but will be released soon by Palm Pictures here in the U.S.

I've seen 2046 and Chungking Express, I like 2046 more than Chungking Express.
