クムリウタ - Lullaby -

Translation:
Stopping, I wasted everything
I averted my eyes, to run away
Being shy, if only we could meet facing different ways
I believed in miracles
The cicada's cry, echoes long
Just like the song, will they die?
Tomorrow, if I disappear too, I wonder if I can live more properly?
Standing here, occasionally
It looks as though I lose conciousness
Cloudy Sky, don't cry
This is still my point of passage and
Cloudy Sky, don't cry
My heart is actually strong
To flow lightly/airily,
Somehow, it passes but
Honestly, I realised this emptiness a long time ago
Holding this wound, one more time, I strongly swear (oath)
I'll abandon myself
Cloudy Sky, don't cry
At least believe in your heart
Cloudy Sky, don't cry
There are people waiting
Swimming around within the deep sea
The audible voice of the water
Remembering, that rainy day
Even though it's this dark
There are two doors
Cloudy Sky, don't cry
This is still my point of passage and
Cloudy Sky, don't cry
My heart is actually strong (2x)
Stopping, I wasted everything
I averted my eyes, to run away
Being shy, if only we could meet facing different ways
I believed in miracles

Any part of the translation in italics are sections that I'm not sure about, so if you could offer another valid (and hopefully better) translation then I'll see to changing it.
Thanks to all those that have contributed and fixed up any of my errors! Yay now at least it should be able to be sung along to. If your not happy with my overall translation, go make your own
Thank you! |

Thats what I initially thought, but if it meant cry, it should've been "nakanai", not "nakunai". Of course I'm not sure if Otsuka Ai is actually doing this on purpose so until I'm 100% sure, I'm going to leave it for now. The title kumuriuta strictly speaking, doesn't mean anything. However, it seems that it's most likely she was playing on "kumori" which of course is what she may have been doing in the chorus.
Anyway, thanks for providing some input on how to make there lyrics better! |

| Nah, they should be different. If you take the general form of the word cry, it will be "naku" as you said. But if it's the negative verb form, it will become "nakanai". I asked a Japanese person and apparently, the word "nakunai" made absolutely no sense to them. And he was born and raised in Japan, and lived there for 20 years. So yeah, quite mysterious. |

I've listened to the song and here my suggestions:
1) in the very first line it's not "monoshita" (ものした) but "mu ni shita" (無にした)
2) I clearly hear "nakuna" (泣くな) (it means don't cry, just like "nakanaide"? but it's another form) instead of "nakanai"
3) in the second line of the chorus I suppose it's not "tsukatene" (つかてね) but something else (though I don't know what exactly - I hear something like "tsukatende", but I don't know what it means)

Ahh yes, why didn't I see that. Munishita makes far more sense. Because if she said monoshita, it already had a grammatical error in it (which would be extremely stupid) and it wouldn't have meant anything even it it did have the required "ni" in between.
And for the second point, I'm still not 100% sure, it certainly does sound like "nakuna" which would make perfect sense as well. However, I still have a slight conflict do to my Japanese friend saying that he definitely heard "nakunai" and that it didn't mean anything. Of course he only heard the song once and on my laptop speakers so the sound quality may not have been so clear. I'll check this again, but I think what you suggested is correct.
Many thanks Lin Lai Fei! |

hey, i just watched when Ai was on heyx3 and sang kumuriuta live and from what i understand and can read japanese *very limited*, i think the last word in the chorus isn't "mata koko wa tsukatene", but "mada koko wa tsuukaten de". and she definitely sings "nakuna". she also sings "shinjita" and not "shinjitai".
also not "jibun no misuteru na" but "jibun wo misuteru na".
"fuwafuwa nagare you ni" is "fuwafuwa nagareru you ni".
hope that helps |

I think it should be
1. 蝉は鳴く rather than 蝉は長く
2. まだここは通過点(つうかてん)で not またここはつかてね
Anyway, thank you for translating the lyric. This is perhaps the most emotional ballad Ai-chan has ever wrote. |

@Rei: Hmm that seems quite true...Another has now pointed out the same thing. I'll check on it just to be 100% sure!
Also, I made the same mistake earlier, because of the way Otsuka Ai dragged on her voice, it sounds like she wanted to sing "shinjitai", just as "nakunai". However, I already corrected the "nakunai" if you hadn't noticed. I'll fix the "shinjitai" as well.
I'm fairly sure it's "jibun no misuteru" but I'll have it checked again anyway just to make sure. And finally, I did put in the lyrics "nagareru you ni" however during the romaji I made a typo Thanks for pointing it out though!
@felixlaumon: Ah that's cool. Cry out, rather than long. Yeah, that's true...argh so many mistakes by me!!!
Anyway, thanks guys for helping out! I'll put up the full lyrics soon, seeing as the full song is now available |

| Wow, this song is pretty sad. I've held off on listening except for a itsy bitsy PV preview about a million years ago, so I barely remember what it sounds like. I really can't wait 'til my LOVE PiECE arrives, I'm really looking forward to this song a lot. |

Hey guys. I'm new here, actually it's my first time visiting this website.
I found a Japanese webpage with the lyrics of Kumuriuta so comparing them with yours I found the following mistakes.
1) ドキドキ should be 時々
2) 曇り空、泣くな またここは通過点で , the また should be まだ
3) 傷は持って should be 傷を持って
4) 自分の見捨てるな should be 自分を見捨てるな
5) 繰るに泳いで should be くるり 泳いで
6) Correct this またここは通過点で to this まだ again
And yea she says 泣くな which is more commanding than Nakanai or Nakanaide.
Good job with the lyrics mate. Hope I was a bit useful.
