Any fans here of the Japanese alt/indie scene? To list a few: tsubaki (not to be confused with the JPOP artist of the same name), TRIPLANE, GOING UNDER GROUND, WALKABOUT, pigstar. To be honest, Ai is one of the few "mainstream" artists I listen to. Post if you want or have recommendations Wink.

indie is Love

but I voted for the second option because I don't like everything! but I know tsubaki and they're really good!! Boogie
I don't know if they're indies, but I could recommend STRAIGHTENER, chickenrace and maybe No Regret Life...but I think, all these bands aren't really indies... Shifty

I recommend them nonehteless! Tongue

so, are there any bands which have a similar style to tsubaki? ^-^

aobouzu and onsoku line, but they are a lot more mellow (tsubaki is already pretty mellow). STRAIGHTENER, chickenrace and No Regret Life are considered indie, at least to me Smile I haven't listened to chickenrace before (I'll give it a try), but I'm a big fan of the other two.

I listen to midnightPumpkin, Jinn, Chatmonchy, muramasa☆, SHAKALABBITS, SKULL CANDY, Yum!Yum!ORANGE, 175R, Witchery SKANK, GOLLBETTY, Saitou Kazuyoshi, and D-Snick.

Mostly ska, but still indie.

So yeah, I guess you could say I like indie.

I love indies ska too!! Boogie Boogie SHAKALABBITS has gone more towards a rock style recently though. They kinda left ska. But midnightPumpkin I ADORE and GOLLBETTY Love SKULL CANDY, Yum!Yum!ORANGE, 175R, ORESKABAND, SKULL CANDY, muramasa☆ I don't like the vocalist. Her voice hurts my ears sometimes. speena is good too!! Hmm...and Shonen Kamikaze=AWESOME. And THE PINK☆PANDA. but only sometimes. The vocalist is like muramasa☆'s.

@davedim midnightPumpkin is a crazy band they have like actual BAND band members (trombone etc.) and I like their sound

175R (inago riders) don't sound ska to me Wink , but those that like their style would probably enjoy HUSKING BEE, TRICERATOPS, and UNDER THE COUNTER.

Most ska bands have trombone and stuff.

I've been listening to ska since forever.

I'm more into old stuff like The Skatalites and The Specials than newer stuff but I do like a handful of third wave bands.

175R are actually ska punk, to be precise.

I prefer their more upbeat ska songs than the all-out punk ones.

I especially like their cover of 十七歳の地図.

davedim, I love most of those too Love
Indie ska, especially fronted by girls <3
Retro Honpo and TsuShiMaMiRe I like too. (But I don't think TSMMR is ska?)
I like Supercar, a little Tsubaki, a little bit of Number Girl. Metro-Ongen, and Polysics.
I mostly don't pay attention to whether it's indie or not? So second choice for me.
...
old morning musume is actually good. .-.

@davedim: Yeah I was going to say punk.

Personally I like the alt sound a lot, over ska.
