UPDATE 2: Submissions are no longer accepted! The turnout is pretty good, lots of thanks to those who participated! I will probably set up the voting thread tomorrow (or today, it's now pass 12am here!).
UPDATE: I've received a few entries for the contest, but a lot of you expressed that you've been busy and deadline is coming soon. I've decided to extend the deadline by one week. This means that you now have until November 20th to enter. I hope this gives those of you thinking of entering some extra time to prepare. Those of you who already submited entries are free to alter your submission anytime during this period as well.
------------------------------------------
Hello Ch-Ai members, it's finally time for another contest to spice things up a little around here. This time we decided on a photography contest around the themes presented in Ai's latest album, LOVE PiECE. Just a quick refresher for those like me with not-so-great memory:
- Blue -- PEACH -- Fun
- Yellow -- Frienger -- Friendship
- Pink -- Renai Shashin -- Romantic Love
- Purple -- Yumekui -- Dream
- Green -- CHU-LIP -- Family
- Black -- HEART -- Feeling
Each song obviously has a different tune, mood, meaning, and interpretation. These fundamental themes are in the lives of all of us. What do these things mean to you? How can you effectively present your views/thesis in a photograph to your viewers?
To clarify, You are free to focus to relating and representing any aspect of the themes/songs. You don't necessarily need to match up colours with the song and themes. You can focus on more than one theme in one photograph, but careful because the representation may not be as strong.
Again, your photography and image processing skills are not judged heaveily in this contest; the most important thing is what you're presenting and how that catches our attention. The guidelines and requirements are quite loose so feel totally free to go CRAZY!
GENERAL GUIDELINES:
- Photo touch-ups/minor enhancements are allowed. However, blending of several photographs, digitally added elements, etc. are not.
- Tasteful nudity is okay. Sexual images or any strongly suggestive gestures are not.
- A small caption to explain the photograph is allowed; around 2-3 sentences.
- Maximum of 2 entries per person.
PRIZES:
1st Place: Winner's choice of either the "LOVE WORLD" photobook or the news single + DVD "POCKET".
2nd Place: $10 YesAsia gift certificate
3rd Place: Eyn will do your dishes for a week.
DEADLINE:
Two weeks from now, November 13th, 2007. EXTENDED -- November 20th.
To submit, you can either upload your photo(s) to ImageShack and email me the link, or simply email me the attachment. (paper.cranes[@]gmail.com)
Did I leave anything out? (Which would be expected of me) Let me know! Same goes for any questions. There are 3 prizes being handed out so please please participate! It's lots of fun and your chances are high. After the submission deadline, entries will be posted for voting. |

Hahah the 3rd place look mighty appealing
Just to clarify about the picture theme, it should be based on 1 of the 6 themes from Love Piece right? Will people be allow to capture more than 1 theme in the picture? There are 3 explanation for each theme (colour, song title, mood). Are people allow to represent any of those 3 explanation, or should they focus on the 'mood' aspect of the theme? |

Cool we get to do 2? I hope I can find time to come up with ideas & actually carry them out!
If we make the photos humorous, will that be...appreciated? Or, well, I guess the members are the judges right? You guys ready to laugh?
Ok, so my understanding is we take a pic with the main color matching with whatever theme we're trying to convey with our subject matter.
For example: you're trying to do PEACH (fun). You could paint a peach blue and take a picture of yourself pretending to smash it into someone's face.
Right?
Oh, I also have a question about the 3rd prize!
If eyn comes to our house to do our dishes, does that mean we can take a pic of him?! |

Wootz... Been waiting for this contest for a time.
I will be joining this contest. But i have a question. Those have a DSLR will have an advantage over those who have normal digital camera as DSLR can have good depth of field, lighting and exposure.
So won't it be a disadvantage for those using normal digital camera to take the pictures as DSLR could express the theme and catches better attention if used properly? |

Guys, it sounds like all of us are total noobs with photography, and we seem to pretty much all have normal digital cameras.
So it doesn't look like it'll be a problem. |
