It depends on the artist. Some people are good at it, like Hikki, but someone like Ai-chin (LIFE - LOVE CiRCLE -- enough said)? Not at all. Like, some Japanese artists can pronounce English words fairly well, some whole phrases really well. Depends on the mood of the music. Like if it's a slow song or something synthy, the English is usually buried under all this arrangement and so it's barely heard.

Ballads though, are another thing. They're usually fairly simply arranged, so most everything is heard clearly. Yeah and if a really bad English line comes up, it just KILLS it. It's like... (I'm making this up here) "Anata no shiawase ga negai yo, I very much wish you happy..."....you can see where I'm getting at here.

Also, if it's a happy, upbeat song then the bad English comes at you like a missile. Like in Ayumi Hamasaki's 'glitter' .... "Yes, cause believe in love" ? no. No, Ayu, no. Like, imagine if an awesome song like "Happy Days" was filled with all this choppy English. The effect would just die.

I'm not against it totally, it just depends on how good he or she is with the language. For the reverse though (Japanese in English songs) I find it really quite annoying. More often than not, the pronunciation is just terrible and accented. Mad

Giggle I find this topic very debatable. I sometimes find it weird whenever they mix in English with Japanese but it's not much of a bother really. It just depends on either the pronunciation, expression or grammar. If that's the bother, the song would sound a bit funny to me.

This may be a issue but it's definitely something not to pull your hair out on. You're meant to enjoy music. Wink

Well, I think different of that. Sometimes I think it sounds very cool when artists sing japanese mixed with english in their songs. but othertimes this is very annoying in my opinion and the best way would be, to cut the parts out of the song Sneeze ... The japanese-speaked english sounds very funny sometimes. One of my favourite examples: Ai-chin in the Channel Ai-series when she present her debut Album and shout: "RABU PONCHI !!!" => "LOVE PUNCH !!!" Laughing Laughing Laughing

Personally, I'm very enjoy to listen how Japanese singer pronounce english in their own slank. Some very weird though. Example, when my friends heard ai-chan "Birthday Song" they always bothering bout the prounounce(The "HAPPY BADDEI" part)?! but its cute what?
At Frienger, the Energy is readed as enotuloki~ Khawaiiii

so far I don't see any problem when english is added in japanese song's.. It may sounds weird sometimes but that is what make Japan music unique from others and I like it Love .
