october and i digressed from the "Japan vs Overseas version" thread to something about H!P, so i made this thread to avoid further rambling about something completely unrelated to int'l versions of Ai's albums.

Oh, maybe you won't like H!P then. It's idol pop basically. Koharu does songs for her anime "Kirarin Revolution", so they're more anime-ish, I guess. Her song "Balalaika" is sort of Russian, and "Koi no Mahou wa Habibi no Bi!" is sort of Latin.

Koharu didn't get any surgery for her eyes. Shocked Or are you just saying that you dislike it in general? I think she was 12 or 13 when she joined/auditioned. Her audition tape is horrible, it hurts my ears more than usual. Hagiwara Mai, the youngest of ℃-ute is currently 11. I don't love Hikki's older stuff, but I like almost every song of "ULTRA BLUE".
in Illinois, you can't work legally until you're 15 and it's very limited, but at 16, you can do full jobs like adults. i'm 17 so i don't have to worry about that Tongue

only 11? wow. i find it slightly disturbing that they are packaging girls like that and selling music because of their cuteness. and i find it disturbing that i could possibly enjoy their videos simply because of their cuteness when they're so young. but i guess that's show business.

i dislike that whole plastic surgery thing in general. usually it's to make eyes larger or create a double eyelid (that some would argue i luckily was born with). this sometimes causes a slightly unnatural, puffy lower eyelid. if she didn't get surgery, that's great, but her eyes are definitely larger and her face is definitely way different than when she auditioned. do they just practice opening their eyes wider or something?

well, i suppose i think some idol/bubblegum pop music.
same with really shoujo music. but in general, i dont like songs like sakuranbo and prefer songs like HEART, Pocket, or Natsuzora.
a couple notable songs of those genres that i really like are:
Twinkle Snow Powdery Snow - Perfume
Tip Taps Tip - HALCALI
Sakura Kiss - Kawabe Chieco

i just watched the PV of Egao Yes Nude by Morning Musume. i guess the video was entertaining for a guy's viewpoint, but musically, it has a catchy bass beat, but definitely was not spectacular.
i guess it depends on my mood. if i'm hyper or really happy, then i will enjoy a song like "twinkle snow powdery snow" even tho musically, it's not very interesting.
but usually, i like songs for their musicality and their ability to convey or influence emotion.
i guess that's because i'm a composer myself. Giggle

just for perspective, my five favorite japanese artists are (in this order):
UVERworld, Hikki, Ai, Mika Nakashima, High and Mighty Color

wow, i ramble. ok i'm done, for now Wink

Yay, H!P Chat/Ramble thread Boogie

There are rumors of some artists in Hello! Pro getting eye surgery...but never Koharu.
I sort of wish my eyes were a bit larger, actually. I wouldn't do surgery for it though Sneeze

lol! No, it's just that sometimes when she talks or laughs, she squints her eyes. She does it in her Dokyu shows and on Haromoni@ too. Her entire face changes and sometimes her voice gets really high, too. She spazzes out sometimes too. But she goofs off a lot and sort of makes a fool of herself (whether on purpose or not) and that's why she's funny. Like for instance, she will brag that in school she played a sport and she's so great at it, but later on when they're all playing it she will run away from the ball screaming, or kick it totally sideways or something like that. But she will still insist that she is great at it. Her impression of Michishige made me love her too, and how she said Michishige was her rival, and how she taught some of the viewers Niigataben. I think the reason why I listen to her so much is because I love her personality. If it was just about her voice, not so much because...her voice is kind of horrible tbh. They should have given her more voice training and waited for her voice to mature a little more before they gave her a solo debut. I want to see her anime, and I don't even like anime. And I want to buy her video games!
There's an episode of HM@ where they play Jianzi/Jianzu with some Chinese citizens, and before that, she and Mitsui Aika are talking about her soccer skills. She laughs or smiles or spazzes a lot there and her face looks the same as the third picture of her audition photos. But when she's not talking or laughing or smiling or whatever, her face looks more like her professional photos.

Morning Musume's best songs are from the Golden Era, you can fully see by checking their thePPN page. SEXY 8 BEAT sales were really, really bad, especially compared to years ago. But that's how most artists in H!P do anyway. After a while sales just drop.
I don't really like Egao YES Nude either. I think I only like 4 songs of SEXY 8 BEAT. As for better MM songs, try "The Peace!", "LOVE MACHINE", "Koi no Dance Site", "Happy Summer Wedding", "Mr.Moonlight~Ai no Big Band~", and "Ren'ai Revolution". The PV for Mr.Moonlight I think is their best. The others, the songs are better than the PVs.

Oh! I like Otsuka's faster-happier songs, but Sakuranbo annoys me too. I think maybe because I've already listened to it too much. It was the first song I had ever heard by her.
If you like Perfume and haven't already tried, try MEG please ^^

The other artists I know but don't listen to that much. But Nakashima has some of the most beautiful ballads ever. Surprised

^ i'm okay with my eyes. i have glasses and i think i'll eventually get contacts or something, but anything having to do with touching my eyes really irritates them.
meanwhile, my sunglasses clip-ons are the way to go Wink

wow, she's so cute. i've only played jianzi once. my mom has one of those things. it's pretty fun.

i'll check out those Morning Musume songs soon asap when i have time. Nod

i like some of Ai's faster ones too. i listen to Ramen 3 Pun Cooking whenever eating ramen Tongue.
i really like Frienger, and PEACH and CHU-LIP are so silly and fun.

i listened to OK by MEG. it's nice Smile any other recommendations for songs by MEG?

Mika Nakashima has an amazing voice. the best that i know of. i love Mienai Hoshi and Sakurairo Mau Koro. Hitori is really sad and beautiful, and Love Addict is just jazzy! Boogie

Love Addict is just awesome. I wish the song have last longer but 7:14 is cool. The jazzy feel in the song makes Mika's voice more beautiful and powerful. This song is Love By far my favorite >w<
If you don't know her, I think you're missing songs like Oborozukiyo~Inori, Venus in The Dark, Yuki no Hana, and THE DIVIDING LINE (and more but I can't quote all her discography XDD)

My favorite fast songs of Ai are Ponpon, Tsukune 70yen and Katorisenkou >w< Well it's more "Crazy songs" than "Fast songs" XDD

I wrote a super long reply but then the server timed out and I lost it. I don't want to write it all the way over so, Nakashima's "Oborodzukiyo~inori", "Love Addict", "GLAMOROUS SKY", and "yuki no hana" are my favorite songs she's made.

Because two girls from China were joining Morning Musume., the girls were learning Chinese words and Chinese things, and jianzi was one of them (but because there is no 'zi' in Japanese the article wrote it as 'jianzu'). Koharu & Aika went to play it, and Koharu didn't know what it was. She asks the guy, "What is this?" and he explains. She then asks him how to play it, and he tells her that it's easy! So after a short demonstration he kicks to her, to which she responds with:

A full 360 to avoid it!! (Excuse the bad quality Shifty)

And the whole time she's screaming that it's scary XD.
Aika is just watching her like she's crazy. She's a lot better at jianzi than Koharu is, even though they both hadn't played before. It was funny. At the end Koharu finally admitted that she couldn't do it well no matter how many times she tried.

Yeah, Frienger, PEACH and CHU-LIP I love them all. I like her ballads, but I love her cute/fun side because even though there are tons of artists who do sweet pop, none of them can do it quite like her. Love

Umm, more recommendations? Not really. My favorite MEG songs are just "OK" and "I'm in LOVE", and the latter is a c/w to the first.

The Hello! Pro eggs are younger than any debuted artist, I think. Fukuda Kanon, my favorite Egg is a year younger than Mai, and when 4KIDS first got together for the Minimoni. movie, they were all really young. I've heard of a Korean pop group where the youngest was either 7 or 9. Surprised

the fusion of jazz with mika's vocals is just perfect in Love Addict. Smile
I like Oborozukiyo~Inori and Venus in The Dark, but they're not my favorites. Yuki no Hana is amazing, but I listened to it too much Tongue when December rolls around, I'll listen to it again for its winteryness. i haven't heard THE DIVIDING LINE. i forgot to mention that Glamorous Sky is absolutely mind-blowing. definitely one of my favorites. Nod

@october:
ahahaha. that's cute and funny.
i'll check out "I'm in LOVE" by Meg. Smile
Surprised

ah! i gotta go (school time Tongue )
