To be honest, Avex seems to gave their artists more control over their careers than other labels, unless you have super good connections like Utada Hikaru. And because Avex is so big, it's willing to take risks with new artists and they accept a lot of artists others wouldn't accept.
Don't get me wrong, Ai does creates her music, but to say that she isn't completely away from that idol image would be wrong IMO, because she does rely on her image and cuteness for marketing strategy, with commercial tie ins and such.
To be honest, Avex seems like a good production company; it's not perfect, but it's pretty good. |

| I think the best company for a singer is the one where he thinks he can do what he wants. After he has to choose according to his heart. But he must always be commercial in the end. Maybe avex can do this for Ai. |
