Hey, just wondering if there are any other jazz fans around like myself. Perhaps there's stuff to talk about, songs to share/recommend etc?
Well...for starters, I grew up listening to jazz because my parents liked it. I found it very relaxing and enjoyable, and I studied a bit about it in highschool when I took music as an elective in years 9 and 10. The control required for improvisation over an instrument always amazed me. Jazz masters such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Bud Powell were among my favourites while I was young but I moved on to more contemporary style jazz which is much easier to listen to, often have some form of pop-fusion in it and is very relaxing.
So basically, some of my favourite jazz artists are Miles Davis, John Coltrane, David Sanborn, David Benoit, Kenny G, Grover Washington Jr and more. My favourite instruments to listen to are trumpet, sax and piano.
I'm actually a sax player myself and am current learning two Sanborn pieces, Run for Cover and Chicago Song (both of which were composed by Marcus Miller). I have most of Run for Cover done (just a final run which I cant quite get yet) and I've almost got the hang of Chicago Song too.
So yeah, just talk about anything...such as the things I covered. I'm not expecting too many jazz fans here but I'm still hoping there are a few |
