Well as we all know avex holds one of the biggest summer music festivals called a-nation, which starts in late July and goes for a month. All the big artists from avex come out to perform their own sets, ranging from at least 5 songs upto 8 songs.
Once again Ai isn't performing at all of the dates. I seriously demand an explanation for this. Below are the dates and bolded are the ones she's confirmed to perform in.
7/26(土) 愛媛県：愛媛県総合運動公園・ニンジニアスタジアム（陸上競技場）
8/2(土) 宮崎県：宮崎県総合運動公園・陸上競技場
8/10(日) 石川県：石川県西部緑地公園・陸上競技場
8/17(日) 愛知県：ポートメッセなごや野外特設会場
8/23(土) 大阪府：みなと堺グリーンひろば
8/24(日) 大阪府：みなと堺グリーンひろば
8/30(土) 東京都：味の素スタジアム
8/31(日) 東京都：味の素スタジアム
It's just puzzling WHY she isn't doing BOTH Tokyo and Osaka dates. I figured it MUST be avex's stupid decision.
Like for Osaka, on one night you will have Ami Suzuki, but not ELT, AAA or Otsuka Ai, then Ami and the three get switched for the next night. The same can be said for Tokyo. This is REALLY stupid in my opinion.
Also noticably absent is ayumi hamasaki!  She isn't on the list at all... many ayu fans are speculating it may be due to her wanting to tour Asia at this time so can not say for sure if she'll attend a-nation.
Seriously can you imagine a-nation without Ayu LOL
Oh well, main thing is that Ai is in it!! I hope she gets a long set! (Last year she did her 6 single tracks from LOVE PIECE) I also hope she has a new single by then to preview! I'm so greedy.

Thanks for sharing this news with us HilaryDuffFanboy. Funny thing too, cause I was just watching the 2007 TV version today.
I'm really surprise at the way things are set up this year. By the looks of it avex is trying to maximize their income by alternating their artists, trying to get fans to attend both days. If that's the case, I don't get why they don't have a big finale with all the artists like previous years. What makes this artist list even more confusing it that this is avex's 20th anniversary and there were already talks of releasing combine album and making short dorama for this occasion.
And as for no Ayu? Wow, that's a real shocker. Then again, I'm sure nothing has been set in stone yet so we may be seeing some changes within the next month or so. |

considering that ayu is not on the MAIN PAGE and rather referred to "AND MORE", that is quite...weird...
but I doubt it.
If avex doesn't put ayu in front of the list...that means she doesn't perform at a-nation...
now...im surprised that koda kumi is appearing... |

Thanks for the news HilaryDuffFanboy Nice to see Ai's going to be performing <3  I had read there was no Ayu  which was really surprising to be honest  but also absent is Boa no? Doesn't she usually perform as well? With both gone and Avex putting certain artists on certain dates, I was worried about Ai  I'm glad she'll be performing at some of the places at least Anyhow looking forward to a great set list I'm wondering if she'll be releasing another single before then. Hopefully an upbeat summer single? Guess we'll have to wait & see. |

The artists listed on their official site is just the first group of announced ones
there are several more groups to be announced
without ayu it's not really a-nation ne.... |

| ^ not much chance of that happening, Thai_Ai_Fan. Hikki is on the toshiba EMI label. a-nation is run by Avex (thats what the "a" stands for in a-nation). |

There aren't very many artists listed. Maybe they are waiting until next month to confirm more? I looked now and it said Ayumi Hamasaki is doing two shows(don't remember which. I think both Tokyo) It is a little odd though, cuz' Amuro Namie is confirmed for all the shows. They're like both iconic performers that came out around the same time..
They've gotta add more people soon though. |

There are lots of artists who perform on the B-stages before the official start of the show. They have announced the bulk of it, won't announce many more really.
Ayumi was recently added to perform at the last two Tokyo dates. When a-nation was announced, she wasn't on the list, speculations stated it was because she was busy with ASIA TOUR 2008 (has overseas dates in September - October) or was too tired from the domestic part of ASIA TOUR 2008.
Namie Amuro, is performing at a-nation for the very first time in her entire career. She has never performed here because she is not managed by avex, but by talent agency Vision Factory. So I'm assuming Vision Factory and avex trax reached some agreement? Not surprising since Namie is riding a popularity wave right now with 60s70s80s and her impending best.
Namie Amuro debuted like 5 years earlier than when ayumi hamasaki released her debut single poker face. Though both yes, are iconic.
Also, Otsuka Ai was confirmed to perform at the Kanagawa date, so she's doing 5 instead of 4! |
