Ai is #38 this year (about DVD) with 「大塚愛【LOVE IS BORN】~5th Anniversary 2008~at Osaka-Jo Yagai Ongaku- Do on 10th of September 2008」.
She sold 20,610 copies.
Not so bad, I hope Love Letter Tour Live House will do the same (this DVD is about 16 000 copies for the moment). |

it's just me, but i still have tingles down my spine whenever she sings any one of her ballads "live". the emotions in it, and the quality of her voice... *shudders (this a good shudder)
5th anniversary's kurage, nagareboshi performance is just wonderfully beautiful, what with the lightings and the strings and of course ai's voice again... *standing ovation |

^ I agree with this so much. Kurage, Ame no Tsubu, and Kingyo Hanabi from this live did it in for me; all three were just so emotional and beautiful. I really enjoyed the added dancing in Ame no Tsubu. I can't put my finger on it, but I'm thinking it was the stronger percussion in Kingyo Hanabi that just made that one live performance top all the others for me. |

^ I enjoyed kingyo hanabi too, I guess it is like what you said, the percussion, or the whole arrangement at the end of the song was splendid.
Another song I enjoyed was Amairo Parasol. The stage was full of musicians and it was really enjoyable to see Ai jamming with her fellow band members. She did it once, in LOVE COOK Tour, for Birthday Song too!
No need to say, her ballads were really good, Shabondama was a surprise. |

Watching Ai live has, more than once, drawn tears from my eyes. Kurage Nagaraboshi in the Love is Born 5th Anniverasry is one of those times. I think I was on an airplane returning from a business trip at that time.
Part of me knows that there are many artists with better singing voices... I know that Ai-chan knows this too. However, in my experience and lifetime, I have yet to find anyone who sings with the amount of "feeling" and passion as Otsuka Ai. She is the anti-diva in that she, herself, seems to be always thrilled to be doing what she does. In looking at the whole package.. IMO there are few that can measure up to Ai-chan.
Ai is a beautiful person that creates beautiful art. I am happy that she is among us! |
