I've was listening to one of Jay Chou's recent songs, which was released in 2007, titled "青花瓷" (Blue And White Porcelain).

After my first listen to it, I found the sound to be rather familiar, especially the chorus section. Then, coincidently, Kurage, Nagareboshi was the next track in my playlist. Gosh, I was totally shocked at how much Kurage resembles the Jay Chou song. Shocked

You can listen to "青花瓷" (Blue And White Porcelain) here >>

So what do you guys think of it? Smile

I keep listening to the Jay Chou song with Kurage's melody in mind, but I just can't compare the two.
They're both really nice ballads, but that's all they have in common really,
That's my opinion. Nod

That's what I thought too when I heard Kurage, nagareboshi. In a way they are a bit similar, I guess it's because they both have some Chinese rythm involved.

I see the similarity in the songs that you speak of I think there's a part of the melody that's similiar. Nod Although I never would of found it on my own since I don't listen to Jay Chou

^ Yea! Part of the melody (chorus) sounds similar.

@AiiR
Yea. Maybe the similarity has something to do with both songs having some traditional chinese rhythm to it. Smile

I don't really find much of a correlation. Except maybe the traditional sounds they have, and few common melodies here and there -shrug- My ears aren't quite trained for that stuff though.

I have the Jay Chou album and i had listened to that song for many times. Personally i do not think it resembles Kurage Nagare Boshi. Although both of them are great songs.

I put Ai's chorus, on Jay's, and I must admit, that it fit well. However I speeded up "Kurage Nagareboshi" a little, and cut out few seconds. I think, that even if it fits well, and sounds nice, the melody is different. I wouldn't call it a plagiarism - it's just resemblance
You can download Jay Chou's song, with Kurage Nagareboshi on it here
I'm not a pro in music edition, so it's not so good, but I hope it shows the resemblance

Edit: Oooops, i had messed up a name of Jay Chou's song Oh noes It should be "Blue and white porcelane". You won't kill me OK? Laughing

I personally didn't hear a similarity...sure, the songs flow together, but they don't sound similar.
