I can see what you are saying, but really it's a supply / demand thing I think. How do you have a case when Ai's concerts sell out at blinding speeds? The truth is, it doesn't matter what she sings, repeats, new songs, B-sides, heck she could burp into the microphone for 2 hours, it'd sell out just the same.
That's just how it is, her fans can't get enough of Ai's performances right now - more demand, more supply. The only thing you can do (that is in your power) is to control your own exposure to Ai's music - IMO, having lots of other music/styles that you listen to helps keeps things fresh! |

1337rice I can see where you're coming from. Yet another tour. Becomes kind of repetitive after a bit.
It seems like Avex has been doing this to alot of their artists lately. Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, and Ayumi Hamasaki. But maybe that's why Ai's going to be doing an Arena Tour. Gives her something more to work with. Not quite sure though.
I know Ai and Ayu are two completely different artists, But Ayumi's Arena Tours are pretty amazing with the exception of Surreal, Audience, Boys & Girls, evolution (These songs are played almost at everything single concert if not all of them for the past few years ) And although I love these songs I get a bit tired of seeing them all the time. Although I really did like evolution at the last Asia Tour concert ) She does switch up these songs a bit in performance though BUT Back to my Point. Although Ai's performing the same songs maybe she will perform them differently for this upcoming tour.
I understand supply and demand. And I understand loving an artist so much that you enjoy their concerts regardless of how often they tour or not. But I also understand feeling overwhelmed. I have enough Ayumi tours to last a lifetime Arena Tours, and Stadium and CDL's, & Asia Tours but I never get tired of them Where as with Koda Kumi I'm tired Don't know why but when her new tour was set to be released I was frustrated thinking again another one. |

Excuse me, my opinion: Otsuka is musician and singer, this is her profession and her joy. She does not make live tour only for duty or management company, she makes live tour because she very much likes to play and sing for people. If you have attended her live concert you will know this, you will see this joy in her eyes and feel this energy in her behavior, I have seen.
(Of course producing concert DVD and party goods is for money and management company, different situation!) |

They added another date, 24th May in Osaka.
I think they will add hall dates to smaller cities, so it'll be like the LOVE COOK tour per se.
Also can someone please correct the thread title and sticky this thread? It's getting on my nerves. >______> |

Well firstly it's spelled arena and secondly there is only one tour. |

No all better now.
You know, logically, it seems that pre-orders for the first Osaka date were so high they announced a second date after three days of sale.
The website said they started trading on the 20th, and by the 23rd, they had announced a second Osaka show. Sounds good to me. |

^ Does that mean that these arena tours will probably sell out fast? I was hoping to be able to go to this tour, being my first trip to Japan.
BTW, i'm sure several have asked, but besides auctions, is there a cheaper way to buy concert tickets for overseas fans? I remember there being websites that you can buy tickets but never bookmarked them.
And, is there anyone here that have been to a previous concert of Ai's and knows the fee's of hotel stay, food, airplane ticket, etc..? I would like to know so I can start saving up. |

^www.ticket.co.jp is a Japanese reselling site, but you need someone in Japan to do it for you.
There is www.fdjp.com, I used them last year, they are total rip offs. Auctions work out cheaper imo.
Food is cheap if you are happy with ramen or obento sets which are less than $10, food isn't expensive there unless you are into fine dining. I went to sushi train once every two days there because it was so cheap, I found a place that was $1 per dish!!!
I stayed in 3 star hotels and that was $90 a night, pretty good. |

1337rice wrote: I demand Budokan! and seriously...another tour? I'm starting to think that she's being used too much and in such a short time...especially how she does her anniversary celebration every year, having a tour every year is kinda....well, im getting sick of it?
2005 - Jam Punch
2006 - Love Cook Tour + Love is Born 3rd Anni.
2007 - Ai am Best Tour + Love is Born 4th Anni.
2008 - Love PiECE Tour + Love is Born 5th Anni.
and seriously...albums...can we get at least a completely new album and not mixed with old songs? you won't kill popularity, but you're "killing" the fans by throwing product after product
Too much ? I don't think so. One tour for one album. While Love is Born tours are just for hard-core fans.
And for me, I bought every her DVDs because I like her toooo much (that for sure). And it is the only way I can see her live concert. Think about this, If you don't know internet, don't know Bittorent. Her DVD is the only way for many fans to see her concert. So I don't think it's bad to release 2 live DVDs in one year. It's actually very good thing.
but I agree that she should release completely new album. Anywhere in the world, artist will release new album and then release single that include in new album but AI release (many) singles and then include those singles in new album.. That's very strange.. I'm very disappointed with Love PiECE that just have only new 5 songs. But I still buy both of album and DVD tour concert. Avax will like a fans as me.
Only one of thing that bother me most is her best album released after just only three studio album ! And it's not the best, it's just the single collection.
But in the end I will buy her product after product until it last...
At least she is one of my favourite artists and only J-POP that I know. (I'm not interested in other japanese artist). The most important is I feel happy everytime I hear her voice. !!!
So, How can I wait 2-3 years for her new DVD concert ? GOD! |

a while ago i graphed her releases to see if there was some pattern to them. it didnt really tell me anything i didnt know. concert DVDs are released faster than albums, 2 a year, compared to (original studio) albums 1 a year. extrapolating from this trend, in 4 years time there will be 8 OS albums and 14 concert DVDs!
here is the updated graph:
something else to note is the singles releases slowed down after Planetarium. |

1337rice wrote: Take a break from tours, because its sorta unnecessary that you're slapping 4-5 new songs on the previous tour playlist and call it a different tour. I rather want a tour from her every 2-3 years than just every year so there are more new songs.
Why take a break from touring when she hasn't got anything else to do? It's Japan we're talking about here; you need to keep releasing an album and touring practically every year, just look at Namie, Kuu, Ayu etc etc. It'd be odd if she didn't tour an album. Ai's had more new songs in her tour with LOVE PiECE tour with only four non-LOVE PiECE era songs, and the LOVE LETTER Tour should be better, with the possibility to tour 13 new songs. |

I don't think you NEED to tour every year. I kinda agree with 1337rice, cos I think touring every year kinda takes the special feeling away from it. I don't think I really am in much of a position to say anything about this since I don't really have plans to attend concerts/purchase dvd's/download lives but like, I think I see the point at which 1337rice is coming from.
And just as an example, what about Utada Hikaru? She doesn't tour every year or for every album (in fact, she hardly tours at all lol) but she's still really successful (that's what you were getting at, right?). Or maybe she's the odd one out |
