Sorry for starting a new topic if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I finally got around to checking out the new Kurage, Nagareboshi single today (it's very unusual for me not to hear a new Ai single the day it comes out, but I've been busy lately).
Anyway, just had to say, the new version of Love Music (雨の粒、ワルツ ~Love Music~) on the single is just awesome. I think I like it better than the actual title song (which I thought was pretty good too).
What did you guys think of it? |

It's my least favourite song on the single. It's just boring for me... |

i love it. it has a dreamlike quality, with the echo/reverb.
it reminds me of when i learnt the piano. my music teacher used to assign me boring pieces to play, so i used to change the time signature, or give it a syncopated beat. when she heard me playing that way i was scolded, but it was my only way of protesting the tunes i was made to play. she would think what i was doing was sacrilege.
of course, Ai wrote LOVE MUSiC so she can do whatever she wants with it. my guess is this track started as a "musical doodle" and was then developed into a complete track. i am glad it was. i prefer it to H2O.
the only thing i find annoying about it is a slight background electronic clicking effect which i think is completely unnecessary (over-produced). |

The new version is my favorite is so mellow - dramatic I love Kurage Nagareboshi but for me this song is my favorite of the single. I find myself listening to this song more than any other as of lately |

it reminds me of how i often like well-written and well-performed acoustic ballads more than most (as pon pon said) over-produced ballads.
in my humble opinion, if a track is meant to be strongly emotional (such as a ballad), then i prefer it to be less produced, since songs with a great degree of electronic ambience become more about the soundscape, the beat, and the groove, which is great if that's meant to be the focus. |

I actually like this new version better than the old one. I think the arrangement is very soothing and relaxing. With that said, Ai-chin revealed herself in interviews that the theme behind this song is fear. Personally I just can't relate such soothing melody to that, which make this songs kinda interesting and weird in a way.
Ai in Excite interview wrote: I wrote that negative tone quite forcefully. I was trying to emphasize the phobia of accidentally offending someone and then not being able to stop…I had that idea of fear in my mind when I wrote this song. |

^ I agree. When I read that interview I was quite shocked about the theme being fear Ai'chans mysterious |

it doesn't give me that feel, of fearing something.
instead, it feels like a couple dancing waltz. haha
but i like the song, esp the piano intro. |

It's a great song, but the original is better to me.
It does give the whole "waltz" feeling though. Which I like. |

| this song is awesome live, on the LOVE LETTER Arena Tour DVD. it is one of my highlights of the concert. in fact, the whole "red dress" segment is totally stunning. |

quite an old topic... but this song kind of exemplifies the range of music she makes...
some would really fall in love with it. others will say this is boring. in the end, we still love her songs, no?
personally i find this song one of those unique ones that she has performed. i'll identify this song closely with 360, with lots of ambience, and a heavy "feeling" to it... |
