I'm very pleased that they're (without "Ningyou", but I think it's a Ballad) 6 Ballads ( Pocket, One x Time, Kurage Nagareboshi, Ai, Love Letter, 360° ) and 6 fast songs ( Rocket Sneaker, Cream & Spicy, Kimi Fetch, Do Positive, Bye Bye, Shachihata ). So there is a good balance between fast and slow songs on "Love Letter" , and I think the new songs are great and more serious like the other albums before ( without "Do positive" and "Shachihata" ) . The only song is dislike is "Love Letter" . The song is 'too' boring and there is not this catchy feeling. Well, but the other songs are just great!
Here a little assessment of the new songs !
Love Letter - 55% (I'm a little bit dissapointed of the song ...)
Cream & Spicy - 100% (Great! Reminds me a little bit at "Mackerel's canned Food" ^^ )
Kimi Fetch - 95% (Sounds very emotional, but very vigorous too )
Do Positive - 85% ( A funny song, but she has better ones...)
Bye Bye - 100% (I highly recommend this song!)
Shachihata - 95% (So simply, but very funny )
360° - 100% (I just LOVE this song) |

I just listened to ド☆ポジティブ and I like it so much!!!...It should have been a single instead of Roketto Sunikaa..
Then I deleted all the other songs form my computer so I can't get the temptation to listen to them |

Ok..."Ai" is not on the file so i just listened to LOVE LETTER....xD
I added "Ai", since I was in a hurry, I forgot to add that file to the rar file...my badddd
Overall...I like the songs in this album...ESPECIALLY "Shachihata", it's COMPLETELY different from what she sings and BOO YEAH WITH THE JAZZ
I might buy this now...that is if they sell the japanese version here |

^ Holy cow you are soo right!! Shachihata's big band style is just awesome and her scat singing isn't too terrible either (too repetitive...she should've at least practised different combinations). My only complaints would be at that 2:55 when it just turned into a pure mess and the trumpet and sax solos weren't all that great either.

Funny eh? You might like Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughan then. They are famous scat singers and you'll find that Otsuka Ai didn't make another 'joke' song but it was actually a genuine attempt at a more difficult version of vocal improvisation. Mind you, if I sound angry, I'm not Just wanted to explain what she actually was doing
The only other ones I quite enjoyed from the new songs were Kimi Fetch and 360° cause it had quite a new sound compared to Ai's earlier works. Kimi Fetch has that lazy feel to it and is quite laid-back. It makes a nice change from her regular ballads as I was getting quite tired of those ><
I thought 360° was quite weird when I first heard it but it grew on me quite quickly. It sounds quite stylish actually, very modern. I dunno, it made me imagine an empty city or something like that...like, where everyone is asleep and it's dead silent.
The rest of the songs were fairly mediocre I think and I didn't particularly develop a penchant for any of them. I was quite disappointed in LOVE LETTER actually because it was so boring. I was hoping it would build up after the intro but looks like that didn't happen T_T
Thanks for the upload 1337rice! |

Hmmm, LOL I love how this leak is spreading like wildfire in the J-muisc communities and the vast difference of comments from people weighing in on this album.
I'm curious with such an early leak ... I assume someone got a hold of a promo cd that some times record labels will send out ... if there's a chance that before the actual release if these songs will see any "tweaks" "refinements" or "changes" ???
I'm not quite sure how common that is in the music industry so I'm just throwing the question out there for now.
I like Ai ... it's a ballad of course it wins people like me over (because I love ballads and slow songs).
LOVE LETTER ... You know I honestly think they should think about throwing in brackets (LIVE) or (acoustic) or (unplugged) in this. When I say that I mean that this song does NOT sound like a studio album song. It sounds like something you would hear live from Ai-chin in one of her concerts or in un un-plugged concert. Basically it's Ai's vocals and a piano. I think if you look at this song as if it were a live song, you may see the natural beauty and pure-ness from it. But if you're looking for something with a strong arrangement, something more to back her vocals and the piano, you will be disappointed, I think the other factor that may make people disappointed with this song is that it's relatively static. For me this doesn't live up to her power ballads like Daisuki dayo, Kingyo Hanabi, Planetarium because of how static the song stays. I don't mean noise static, I mean static as there's no rise or fall ... no crescendo in the song usually equals to a boring song to most people. You'll either love/like or be majorly disappointed with this song. I'm personally undecided. I think if I see her perform this live in a concert I'd fall in love with it.
Creamy & Spicy ...LOL the begining of this song (when it's just the guitar and her vocals) makes me think of camp fire and ppl singing around a camp fire XD I dunno, it's your typical mid-tempo ... semi-up beat song from Ai. Doesn't really stand out to me.
Kimi Fetch has this "Heart" (one of Ai's songs) to me. I like the begining .... though I feel "Heart" was better done. I feels like this song is missing something, I'm not sure what.
Do☆Positive ... somewhat reminds me of Fringer ... especially the way she sings it. I was never a fan of Fringer and probably will never be. Therefore this song doesn't appeal to me personally.
Hmmm, undecided about Bye Bye. I think it's one of those songs that I feel needs refinement/tweaked.
I <3 Shachihata ... to a point. I adore the arrangement in this song and Ai trying out a new vocal style. I do agree with sljinu that the song does seem to fall apart at 2.55. But for me I think it's just bad from 2.55-2.58. When they layered the vocals (I think she had background singers ...) it .... it didn't work well during that few seconds. The speed was just wrong. It sounds horrible. If one were to mean it sound like bad impression of Turkeys doing jazz (sorry I'm not trying to dis this vocal style, I'm just saying that part sound REALLY horrible ... somewhat ruined the song for me). A lot of J-pop listeners may not be familiar with "scat" singing so for those that don't know ... please at least glance at WIKI before you pass final judgment on/write off this song
I really enjoyed 360º. Can't think of anything bad to say about it. I This may be my fave out of the album tracks. That or Ai.
As a fan, I feel lucky to get to have such an early preview of her new songs. However I do have a sense this may harm her sales as I'm hearing a fair number of negative comments on the net, some people have even mentioned canceling their orders (which by all means is their right, especially with the way the international economy will be from now to throughout next year). Time will tell I guess. I've decided early on to pick up both versions as I want to support her. I'm doubtful this will be my favorite album (I don't think it'll be my least favorite either) from her though there are a fair number of songs that I will still enjoy on this album. |

OK..here goes my opinion: (yeah right...like if somebody cared about my opinion...but here I go anyways... )
LOVE LETTER - 4/5
I don't know why nobody liked it so much...I personally love it....It has really nice lyrics, maybe it's a little boring when you're not with the mood for it. But it's relaxing and cute, a perfect love song.
The lack of instruments makes it a special and quiet song...(anyways i'm planing to arrange a violin and guitar part and record it for the song )
Creamy & Spicy - 4/5
Really nice song, sounds like a mix between Mackerel's Canned Food and drop.
The only problem I find on this song is that the vocals when she sings "KURIMII & SUPAISHII" are annoying
Kimi Fechi - 5/5
I just love when Ai includes that jazzy mood on her songs, she won my heart with HEART and OnexTime....and she did it one more time with this song...an instant favorite !!
Do☆Pojitibu - 5/5
Such a great song!!!...I love when Ai decides to rock on her songs!! It's like an improved version of frienger.
I can't stop listening to it
Bye Bye - 3/5
This song didn't really impress me so much...I find it a bit boring....sounds a bit like Amai kimochi maru kajiri
Shachihata - 4/5
Ok...that voice doesn't sound like Ai ......she's forcing her voice too much...
I love the arrangement and besides the "turkey" part this song is good
I like that she's experimenting with her songs, and she did a good work scat singing
360° - 5/5
I love this song, the piano, the vocals... this song is perfect..It sounds a bit like Ame no tsubu, WARUTSU....
It's relaxing and for some reason it makes me feel very sad and empty on the part she sings "Anata ga suki" ( )....
Ai - 5/5
I liked it live and i LOVE the studio version
Such a sentimental and nice song!....
OK...this is my humble opinion |

I've heard most of the songs but before I gave them all a proper listen my boyfriend deleted them all because he doesn't want me to get sick of it when the album arrives.
The songs that left big impressions on me were 360degrees and Ai.
The album is already miles better than LOVE PiECE in my opinion. I think LOVE LETTER may be her best album to date, of course I'll have to listen some more in December. ;D |
