rumour time. on the LOVE LETTER DVD menus it looks to me like she is wearing an engagement ring:
 
also in the recent WHAT's IN? WEB photoshoot:
same ring. same finger. the WIW feature is dated 2008.12.17. although the excite photoshoot is dated 2008.12.12 and she is not wearing it.
the published dates of these web pages will probably not reflect the actual day of shooting, but it is reasonable to assume the excite one was done first.
of course, it may not be an engagement ring at all. but then again it might... |

that's interesting. yeah I agree about the under wraps thing, I wouldn't be surprised if later in 2009 Ai says she's found someone. that would be a good thing, it'd inspire her to write music in a new perspective.  |

Oh my... I will cry if so.. but should be happy too... conflict feeling and emotions will come together.
...tell the truth I hope it won't happen so fast... I know ai-chan oredi 26 but.... aaaaaa 
But often I wear ring on that finger since somehow it looks better. maybe ai-chan too.
looking at WHAT's IN? WEB photoshoot it resemble a white grown for bride.... ai-chan will looks extremely gorgeous IMO when she marry. T_T |

but i think i saw her wearing different ring in that same finger b4,
i used to wonder if she's engaged when i saw it then.

I did not see this.  If this is true, I will be glad and hope she finds the right partner! Maybe like mentioned before, her partner can help her out with her music and other positive benefits. Just excited to know if it's true or not!!
Then again, it may mean something else. I have a lack of knowledge with marriage rings, is there like a specific finger where you have to put it?  |

It's possible she could be engaged and hasn't told anyone yet. But.. She's been wearing that ring since the LOVE IS BORN 3rd anniversary concert. And before that, she wore a different one on the same hand and same ring finger (which was featured in her Ai am Best pamphlet as a short "special" about 10 things she must have every day). Maybe this instance could have been to accessorize?
Also applying to this rumor is a photo from a JOSEI SEVEN article about Ai being engaged since late 2006. They have a knack for pinning an engagement rumor to Ai whenever she is spotted by the side of some man. Those pictures above do look convincing.
(sorry for going off topic, but i really wanted to know what the acappella version of 'Ai' is like. how is it, pon pon?  ) |

| ^ yeah.. now that I think about it, she almost ALWAYS puts a ring on that finger. As in the video for Ai and 360, countless others too, and a whole lot of interviews. Unless she's been engaged since like 2005, then it probably isn't true. |

do you mean in the LOVE IS BORN 3rd anniversary concert? here are her hands in that concert:
she has not worn any rings in any of the later concerts. (dont know about LOVE IS BORN 5th yet.)
is the "Ai am Best pamphlet" the booklet for the CD? i dont have it. also the "special" you mention. could you provide links?
random bit of trivia: there is a continuity error at 20:29 in the Ai am BEST concert DVD

it is the same as the first NISSAY CM, and goes for 33 seconds.

my recollection is she NEVER puts a ring on that finger, but if what you are saying is correct it should be easy for you to find an example, right?
in 360, she wears a chunky dress ring on the index finger, which is where she usually wears such rings.
in "Ai", she also wears the ring!
however, in the latest TV performance broadcast 2008.12.26 she is not wearing it:

Oh sorry you are right. My mistake, I keep confusing where her rings go. Yeah that's what I meant by almost always...like Kurage, Nagareboshi and others.  |
