What do you think? It's been a different year for Ai this year, one single release at the start of the year (with no B-side), with only a Best album and a Love mini-album at the end of the year, I'm feeling starved for new songs.
Yet she has had a long Love Letter Tour, both Live House and Love is Born 6th and Love is Best Tour on the horizon, she'll probably have more DVD releases than CD releases
I've read a lot that recording companies are trying to push their artists to do more live performances to offset low CD sales due to piracy, bad economic conditions and a host of other reasons. This seems to be the case for Ai, she's a great live performer (the BEST in my humble opinion), but will this hurt her long-term? Are AVEX just chasing short term profits at the expense of Ai's long term career? Will this change next year, or should we expect this in the near future (more live performances, less new music produced)?
I really hope next year Ai is given a bit of a rest and allowed to spend more time producing some new songs, I think the constant tours must be very draining for her, and while I love her live performances, I would like to see more of a balance and some new songs as well?
So, what do you think? |

Yeah, I thinks she's making a lot of concerts, but it's ok because when you see her performing you can see that she absolutely loves to do it.
As a musician I would also love to make so many concerts..Performing live is what a musician looks for, we're made for that and that's our life.
It's true that this benefits Avex with money, but Ai's sincere performances just say that this comes from her heart and she loves to do it. |

| Oops, should've added in Yes, I want more new songs as an option. Oh well too late now I can't change the poll, if you want that option use the other reason. (that was my vote). |

| Well I personally think that she's had such good material to perform with LOVE LETTER that if she came out with something new right away we wouldn't have time to enjoy it. So I don't mind the fact that she's had basically no new releases this year. |

I picked "Yes, but Ai-chin loves doing concerts so it's OK". I think we get some new singles and maybe a new album next year. She needs to release new material to make a new tour ... |

| I love Ai-chan's live work and think that she has the sort of music that is meant to be enjoyed in the live concert setting. |

Well, if we talks about Aichin's long term career, I absolutely agree with flintandtas.
Without new single or album, Aichin's popularity can be drop in the near future. Really dangerous. And this is we all don't want to, right?

We have to support Ai-chan! Not downloading her releases, but BUYING them! avex expensive prices are shit and maybe it's hard for some people to order the stuff, but it's for our dearly beloves Ai-chan. In my opinion, persons who don't buy her newest releases shouldn't grumble about bad sales.
That's the way it is. Maybe we are not enough to pull her sales higher, but after buying the CD's/DVD'S/Whatever, we can say that we SUPPORTED her. We can say that we are TRUE fans!
And to be honest with you: Physical CD's with a booklet, a cover, a CD and maybe Photobook or a DVD are miles better than some 320kbps files on your computer, right? |

Absolutely agree with Crystallas !
I'm always soooo happy when i receive my orders ! I just can't live without this happiness feeling when i have my items !
We need to support her it doesn't much matter all that takes place around Ai-Chin - and that avex sets up to make more and more money. if we are plainly fans we must buy ! |

I'm going to have to disagree with Crystallas. Maybe if you're Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, you can afford every new release that Ai has put out. (And I doubt either man is a fan of hers, but you never know! ) That sounded insensitive, but that's just my opinion. People can still support Ai even if they don't buy every item she releases. Some people want to support Ai, but have other important things that they feel their money should be going towards. And truth be told, with this economy still in the slumps, more hands are going to go up for saving every penny and being fed/paying for school and other necessities than buying entertainment. Yeah, there's a satisfying feeling to be gotten out of supporting your favorite artists, but reality is going to bite one way or another and that joyful feeling is going to be fleeting.
Back on topic, I think avex is pushing for a lot of concerts. They easily could have kept to the 'Winter Theme' LOVE is BEST is going to be centered around and save the tour for January - early March, depending on the weather. |

Well, supporting your favourite artists should be within reason obviously. Japanese DVDs / CDs are definitely at the top end of the price scale, so that can be quite prohibitive, especially as I know a lot of you guys are in school or uni and not working fulltime. Though if you are in a position to buy the CDs or DVD's, it is without a doubt the best way to support Ai, if not you can still support Ai just by spreading the word, like participating in the forum . And no, you don't have to be Bill Gates to buy all her releases - there aren't that many a year.
Ai-chin's given us a lot with her music, please support her the best way you can
And yes CDs/DVDs are much much better than some file sitting on your computer |

I agree with amouring, there's people who can't afford the releases, and specially buy online. There's many pople who doesn't have a credit card or any way to buy online.
Maybe this doesn't apply for developed countries, but in 3rd world countires the economy isn't high.
Like an example: I have all of Ai's CD's..but I can't afford all her singles and DVD's because I have to pay japanese, music theory and cello classes, plus I have to pay my cello...that's like 500$+ at month....
Also take in mind that the "support" you mention is more for the discographic label than the artist.
Also, recent studies have discovered that in some cases the artists are the ones who "leak" their works into the internet, to gain more popularity. And the bigger sales are from concerts, commercials, etc. |

Haha, of course you don't have to buy EVERYTHING by her . This year she released:
- Bye Bye
- Love is Born ~5th Anniversary~
- Love Letter Tour A
- Love Letter Tour L
C'mon. Even if you don't have much money, you can at least buy one of these. Or a older album, I don't know. I don't want to coerce somebody to buy her new stuff, and I feel sympathetic towards people who don't have enough money. But the fact of the matter is that many people complain of bad sales and bad chart positions, but if you ask them if they bought the CD to support the artist they answer with "No". You know what I mean? |
