Shiritori is a pretty common game in Japan, I've seen it played several times on TV Shows and Dramas, and it seems a good way to practice your Japanese and to learn new words, so why not give it a try Giggle

The rules are pretty simply, the first person chooses a word, then the next person chooses a word which begins with the last kana used in the first word, get it? Heres a simple example below
Quote:
Post #1 :
ねこ ~ neko ~ cat

Post #2 :
声 ~ こえ ~ koe ~ voice

Post #3 :
enpitsu ~ pencil

Post #4 :
次 ~ つぎ ~ tsugi ~ next

... and so on

One warning, don't choose a word that ends in n (ん), as there is no Japanese words that begin that kana. ( if someone does do this Blank stare , the next person can just choose a new word to start with - after telling the previous person off )
Also, if a word ends in ki (き), the next word can start with kyo (きょ) if you want.
It's optional to write the word in Kanji, Hiragana or Katakana, but always include the romaji (roman letters) so that even beginners can play.
And always include the meaning in english, so people can learn the words

Edit: Words should be nouns only ( I seem to be the main offender to this rule) Tongue

Ok, I'll start,

しりとり ~ shiritori ~ a japanese word game

ah, shiritori, nice nice. ^^ although it's pretty much a game where you have to be fast and you want to stress people into saying a word ending with an ん, it can still work online. Smile

funny that the first word i thought of after "shiritori" was "rikon" (離婚; divorce)... second word was "riakushon" (リアクション; reaction)... if this was for real i definitely would've been out already. Laughing

hmm... if it ends with a small ゃ like in しゃ, should one start with "sha" or "ya" or "shi"...? i'm thinking "sha", but the thing with starting with "kya/kyu/kyo" after a word ending with "ki" just got me thinking. and ラブレター got me thinking if ending with a ー is allowed... i guess since it isn't a real kana you don't count it. lol, i'm overthinking stuff. Laughing anyways...

Well, to tell the truth that 「しりとり」 only use nouns. Wink

沼 - ぬま - Numa (Swamp)

@ pamagirly7
The kanji 「狗」 is not a common kanji used for inu, the common kanji for inu (dog) is 「犬」. Smile
