Girl Next Door is a band which was created to commemorate avex's 20th anniversary. It is made up of three band members, Chisa, Suzuki Daisuke and Inoue Yuji. They made their debut in March 2008, with the single Guuzen no Kakuritsu. In December they released their self titled debut album.

Their music is an interesting blend of pop and rock, reminiscent of the 90's era. The band is usually involved in creating the whole music production process. Chisa writes the lyrics and Suzuki is involved in the composition process.

From the very beginning avex marketed this group aggressively by bringing them to the limelight in order to make them the "it" group. As a result, Girl Next Door's releases always have a huge budget backing them up. Consequently they always have high budget music videos, artistic covers and striking song titles.

I discovered this group quite by accident, while browsing an Ayu thread and reading about them. I was interested and watched "Seeds of Dreams". Even though it was a bit cheesy, I thought it sounded fun and started to watch and download their discography. Soon enough I got down to buying their CDs.

Yeah, I have every song from them. I don't like them as much as some other artists but their music is very refreshing, good pop music for your life Smile . I think their last two singles "Infinity" and the Triple A-Side single were awesome! Can't wait for "Orion" and the next album Boogie .

Haha I was thinking of making a thread about them but hadn't had the time to. But I'm glad you made one, so that I know there's more ppl here that are interested in them.

I got into them right before Infinity was released because I heard Infinity on a J-drama, I know the name but I can't spell it without looking it up. I knew of them before that, as I've heard the name being tossed around but I never paid attention to their music as I thought they were way too gimmicky. I still think that, but like Crystallas said, their music is very refreshing (as well).

I really like their PVs though ORION isn't anything stunning, it's still a pretty PV. I can't wait for their second album because a lot of the stuff they have been releasing have been something I like.

ORION is much slower than all their other songs but it's still a nice song.

Yes most of their stuff is really purely pop and very mainstream but they managed to make it work. I think they won't ever create anything really revolutionary but it's nice music to listen to once in a while.

I hope the next album will be more full of new items like offshots or making ofs. Girl Next Door always seem to have big budgets so seeing what happens behind the scenes would be cool. Hopefully they will have another cool theme and photoshoot.

ORION has really pretty scenery but then it seems to stop there Shocked And I'm also trying to find somewhere to download it.

or it's because Masato "Max" Matsuura found them, hence they get that special treatment.

The group is ok...I only seem to like their first 3 singles, after that...it just kinda went downhill in my opinion.

Actually it seemed that he wasn't too keen on Chisa at first. I don't know where I read it but I think what avex wanted to form a group to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a group which already had some polished skills. They wanted a band where to show everyone that this was the representation of their musical work and that's why they get special treatment. An ex-DAT and a vocalist which had dancing skills and Chisa kind of fit in that bill.

Max found/discovered many other artists but not all of them get special treatment, usually it depends on their sales.

And I'm uploading the pv right now sakuraangel Smile

So, I saw the PV for Orion, and I like the scenes very much in the PV.

Yay for a GND thread. This band is so cool. I'm praying that they will release an album next after Orion.
