My friend used to play a game in the car when we see number plates on other cars (In Australia, the car plates have 6 characters). We usually try to make up words with the first 3 characters because those are letters.
For example. ABL, could be A Big Loser. 
It will work like the games we usually play, you'll get the hang of it.
