(sorry about the misunderstanding rice)
I was wondering how close knit this Ch-Ai fourm should be to the subbing group and the work that it does.
Maybe setup a seperate forum/website, like the Blog is kinda distinct from this forum?
So worst case would be that it becomes a new group with its own website somewhere else, right?
yuirin your help would be great!
Translators dont have to involve themselves with the subbing side of things at all.
I hope you are a fan of Ai-chin though
because you would have to listen to her voice over and over and over again for hours
While we wait, how about we try to make a list of what needs to be translated?
If my guess is right, there isn't THAT much really.
Are commercials worth bothering with?
I remember seeing a few oddball interviews on youtube, but legal issues aside, they would be horribly outdated
If the translator is up for it, maybe the Life-Love Circle podcasts could also be done? |

@mello:
Don't worry, I'm a big fan of ai-chin and love her more than anything
So I would LOVE to listen to her wonderful voice over and over again!
I don't mind translating podcasts, either. |

| actually, mango has started on 1. Ontama (1 ep that aired in 2007- almost done, just a few lines left untranslated) 2. The Acadamic Challenge vol.1 (about 15min done) some time ago... so if it's okay with you guys, I think we can finish them first? |

aren't we still waiting for confirmation from eyn and 1337rice?
it wouldn't hurt to start translating stuff though I think
yuirin if you want to start then you should talk to yangirl about what is already done (wholly or partially) and try to finish it off.
If you need help or finish it, then post here and someone (me, if nobody else volunteers) can double check to make sure the script is good to go
I for one have no idea what the group should do first, maybe tackle everything in chronological order from the earliest stuff that has been available on youtube for years (so we can assume avex aren't too bothered about it)
And one more thing:
I am definitely not nominating myself leader or anything, dont get the wrong idea guys
i just happen to be good at managing projects and what not, especially when nothing seems to be happening and nobody seems to know |

well I did text him yesterday, he said he's gonna check it out...maybe he's busy
from the text message:
I'll take a look, thanks for the heads up!
*edit*@ 2:18am
typing this on my phone, couldn't sleep and just thought of this...
Are we doing soft subs or hard subs? Because if we do softsubs, we instantly could start working rather than waiting for an answer from eyn. In my opinion, i think softsubs is a good option as we don't have to re-encode the file and re-upload since that takes time, plus it saves space on the servers and we can worry less about legality issues (doesnt mean none).
So basically i can set up a sticky thread in the downloads section. Our projects will be any files under the downloads section so we can easily link that file.
Thats my thought. Nite. |

If we gonna do softsub, we can only do talk show and if we do PV then only simple text, since karaoke effect won't play smoothly in softsub... but I'm fine with doing only softsub though^^ I just want to have ai-chinn's stuff translated so I can understand...
And actually, we've already started working... I PMed yuirin abt that |

^ agreed, although karaoke probably isn't worth the hassle, not until more people decide to help with timing and typesetting.
Start with softsubs first, then take it from there |

hey, guys. sorry i haven't posted here. i'm pretty busy with a lot of stuff atm, but i thought i should say something before i go away for a few days tomorrow, probably won't come on before i'm back in sweden in about 4 days.
yeah, i started on that Ontama and Academic Challenge Vol 1.
Academic Challenge because it's simply hilarious imo, and probably my favourite Ai-chin video. i'm aware it's very long and there's a lot of talking and a LOT of on-screen text, so i'm not really sure why i started on it with my lacking skills, but i just couldn't let it be.
Ontama is a good place to start though, imo. it's short and funny and there are some interesting questions asked. i actually don't have the other Ontamas from oct 2007 (at least not where i have the one i've subbed), but if we do one we might as well do the others too. i have a bunch of 4 episodes from 05.12.12-05.12.15 also.
another one i would like to have subs to (which thankfully doesn't have a lot of on-screen text) is Otsuka Ai no Sekai. it's about 4 years old and in two 45 minutes long parts (though a lot of it is song performances), so it's not something i'd suggest to start with, but it looks interesting. interviews like that also tend to contain a bit harder japanese, i think.
i'm not really sure how things are being done here now. are we using this thread for updating what we've done on different files? or are we fixing something else? i guess this is just for starting up.
about hardsubs vs. softsubs:
softsubs are easy to do and easy to distribute, but if there's a video with a lot of on-screen text i for one can't stand having softsubs where they say "sign: blabla" or something. unless you're suggesting we release subs in .ass format rather than .srt so we can position the subtitles, but that would mean people would have to use media players that support .ass files.
i like hardsubs cause it gives a lot of options and opportunities to do stuff with your subs, and i often tend to go over to typesetting and such when i grow tired of not being able to translate ( ). anyway, it's recommended when there's a lot going on on the screen.
of course, there's always the option of releasing both.
so yeah... going to be gone for a few days, but i'll be back.
yoroshiku. |

Have a safe trip, I'm sure you enjoyed yourself thouroughly
I was thinking the same thing about the subs actually when I watched the Ontama clip:
there's a huge pink bar with Japanese text where the subs should be, probably even worse on other clips
For now, only yangirl and yuirin are doing anything.
As more stuff gets translated, we can split the translation checking, timing and typesetting work between the rest of us
I'll see what other clips I can dig up in the meantime |

credits to azurejan for uploading the ISO. I could do the encoding and upload it to the server if possible since I already have the file. |
