^It was a porn movie with an actress imitating Ai in the sakuranbo PV.(I think it was sakuranbo...can't really remember well xD) She didn't even look like her at all...
It must be buried somewhere in this forums.

The Suteki da ne vs 'Planetarium was actually because of the PV. Both PVs are similar but I think it's because Planetarium is something like a tribute to Suteki da ne.
Anyways, if it was plagiarism it's not her fault, it's the PV director's fault. Laughing

I think Ai's latest music has been lacking the quality of her older songs. "LUCKY*STAR", "Zoccondition", "I ♥ xxx" and "Action 10.5" haven't been so good. And I feel her vocals have changed a lot in those songs.
The other day I was listening to LOVE PUNCH and I liked it a lot..it was my least favorite album but now I feel her voice was much cleaner and has a better technique than now. Her newer songs have some kind of voice I find annoying, like if she was forcing her voice a lot and it sounds like if she's covering her nose to sing Shifty

About the surgery. They've always come with surgery rumors with like every jpop artist xD. So I don't think people would hate her for that.
I never said it but in the pics we've seen from when she was a younger, she really seems to have smaller eyes....I don't know... Wee Laughing

I think it all started with Love.it and that autotuned voice sound. Then you had the wilder costumes and wigs. She turned all diva. I personally think her fame caused her to lose touch with that 'girl next door from Osaka' that fans really fell in love with. When she was the cargo pants wearing cute girl in Frienger she was "gettable" for guys and "non-threatening" to gals. And the lyrics of that time spoke to those same people.

With this change it seems like she ran out of identifiable experiences to write about.

I personally don't think it's a plastic surgery, but a natural grows of her eyes.

I agree with both. hmm

While her Love-chan songs were cute the LOVE.it album's really lacked what the first two had in charm. They just sounded like any other tecno-y song (don't get me wrong I love LOVE.it). And over all, don't hit me, I think the Love-chan idea was a bit of a lost cause to begin with No she was already having major success, this little side project wasn't entirely necessary, unless she was simply doing it for fun. Either way the fans didn't really get on board with it.

Actually though I'm not as sure on her fashion. I'm not disagreeing about the loss of the 'girl next door' ... I don't feel she became a Diva. I would see that as a toned down Koda Kumi Tongue I think her style of dress just got a bit too random and odd for people. There were quite a few outfits I saw and asked myself 'what the hell is she thinking?!' ... come on, flowery over-alls that are 2x too big and a top hat? That's more like a Lady Gaga attempt to get people to look at her. -___-

And I also noticed a sort of difference with her lyrics starting with LOVE PiECE. For the most part it just didn't add up to the awesomeness of her first 3 eras. LOVE PiECE's songs, while there were a few major diamonds there (Kumuriuta!! Love Yumekui, Ren‘ai, Heart) the rest were just too lyrically random and silly. Again don’t get me wrong, I love every song on the album, but her previous albums were full of sweet lyrics that had purpose and a few ‘fun’ songs thrown in for balance, this album just sounded like a jumble of random stuff with only a few serious songs thrown in, it just didn‘t balance out.
Then there’s LOVE LETTER (my favorite album! Love I’m a sucker for her ballads). With it I just think people weren’t ready for the matureness that emanated from this album. That and the album is mostly ballads. Some people don’t like that I guess. Tongue

Idk why they would care about her fixing her eyes when MANY other artists have done way more than she ever dared too.

Oh I remember reading somewhere that there was some sort of ‘curse’ on female Japanese artists that cut their hair short. Something about ‘usually their popularity begins to go down after they get it cut because the public don’t like the drastic change’. Laughing Maybe Ai-chin fell to the effect of the curse. Laughing Seem’s to me her popularity and sales began a slow decline after she cut her hair (i'm just being silly) Tongue

With Ai... its kinda like what happened with BoA :. She started out with a sweet and innocent style of music that everyone loved and got used too, then when she got older and decided to change to a more mature style they decided they didnt like it and chose not to accept it. Honestly they need to get over it, she cant stay a child forever, she's grown up and her music is going to reflect that.

THIS !
You're completely right !
Ai and BoA are linked in some way. Besides they come from the same label.

I don't know why but I have some "japanese feelings" about Ai's music because the first music I didn't really like from her was Rocket Sneaker. Thanks to LOVE LETTER album I finally love it. But I still can't stand her electro musics like LOVE musics, Action 10.5 or LUCKY*STAR. I find it annoying...

I also think Ai destroyed her best tie-in ever, the one linked to I LOVE XXX with NHK Chorus Contest... Damn why oh why did you choose so simple and (too much) english lyrics Ai-chan? ... When I'm looking at Angela Aki's Tegami or Ikimono-gakari's YELL, these are two heartbreaking songs, both music and lyrics.

Then, Ai arrive with her I LOVE you and you and you and blablabla ...
WTF?
What a waste of time... 2010 is certainly my most disappointed "Ai's year"
The only good news is she was pregnant and gave birth to me.

HOW I LOVE AI OTSUKA !
I WISH SHE COULD HEARD WHAT I HAVE JUST SAYING AND TAKE CARE OF HERSELF AND BACK TO MUSIC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITH STRONG, VERY STRONG PERSONNALITY.

(aiko just cut her hair to promote her latest single to date and for the first week it's her best selling single since KissHug in 2008 haha woaini ^^)

Well... Then the reasons are just known.
Even we who are her real fans, in some points feels not comfortable with recent unusual things from her. But we still can accept it (because we are her real fans?).
But other people cannot... No Sad Blank stare

Exactly, Nod true fans dont have to love every single thing an artist does in their career/personal life, but we get over it and accept it is their decicion and we have no say in it. Unlike others that abandon an artist because they cant handle it... Tongue

Haha my english sucks lol

I wanna say "To me, the only good news back in 2010 is she was pregnant and gave birth." ^^

I'll never abandon Ai-chan ! Love
I worked too much for her to make a beautiful fansite, I can't drop her like that x)
No really, Ai-chan is everything for me ! She introduces me to Japanese music with Ayumi Hamasaki. I'm really proud of it.

Dear Miku,

You said "HOW I LOVE AI OTSUKA !". Does it sound complex and refined sentence? No. When someone loves other person, does he/she express his/her feelings in complicated and sophisticated way? No. Now we have Ai Otsuka, and she sings in that song she loves everyone. She wants to share her love with you, you, and also you (yes, you who are reading this now). That's why she made this song. You expressed your feelings in merely 5 words "HOW I LOVE AI OTSUKA" and that is very clear and understandable message for everyone, especially Ai Otsuka. But when she does the same and says she loves you, you say that you are disappointed because she did it in so simple way?

Disable your mind and let heart receive what she is trying to pass and then you will be delighted with that song Smile

We have to be realistic. The vast majority of the time artists come and go. Rarely do they carry on a strong career longer than 8 or 10 years. As far as the anti-AIO people; a lot of people follow fads and the people I talk to that don't like Ai-chin any more are those I recognize as not really appreciating "real" songwriters. These people tend to follow corporate steered or created music. It's like they pick their favorites based on what Oricon or MNET says instead of what their hearts and ears are telling them. It's like Groupthink.

It surprises me that some people may not like someone like Ai Osuka. It is really hard to understand that a person giving so much positive vibes is being under some dirty attacks. This is actually some wider observation. If someone getting popular, there will be always some people ready to mock, throw false accusations and spread bad rumors about such person. If you look at the history, even most respected persons in this world had enemies doing intrigues against them. Let's leave these people and their negativity to themselves.

Sometimes one can see a frog sitting and croaking on a lotus flower. Does the flower becoming less beautiful and less fragrant by that?

I agree. Low sales are not because of the digital release. It's because in general, people all over the world are dumb and don't recognize true talent when they see it. Too often people are drawn to talentless corporate artists who vomit up other peoples' mindless lyrics in a cleverly choreographed career. And those same companies regularly get them mentioned on the air and in the press. People simply buy into the hype created by the record labels and their shills in media.

These popular artists are highly engineered brands like Apple and Coke.

Sadly, this is how I see things as well. The level of music commercialization is very high nowadays. It is just a business, making money by big companies, and it is very hard the true talents to compete with that artificially engineered blockbusters. Too bad so many people prefer listening mainstream artists just because they are played and promoted everywhere and not following/creating their music taste themselves. I'm sure that if Ai agreed to perform that fashionable plastic music prepared by so called "marketing experts", full of effects and scanty clothing, her popularity would reach moon within one week. I hope that will never happen and she still will be writing her charming songs full of beautiful emotions and messages like she did before.

I think in the end the sad truth is that careers for women tend to slow down once they have children. This is especially the case for celebrities where their life is often scrutinized and their life usually must be a reflection of the expectations of society.

Ai's career was already slowing down but I always had a feeling that as soon as she'd have a family she'd rather go back to being the down-to-earth person she already is with a normal life. Ai always wanted to be a kindergarten teacher and I can imagine her slipping back into being a normal person and getting a normal job. Ai always struck me as being a private person who wouldn't want to expose her child to the media.

However I shall miss Ai terribly and would love to see Ai back as soon as she is comfortable enough to resume her career.
