Has anyone seen Marumo no Okite? It's getting great ratings for FujiTV and seems to be a good family drama but I can't find it anywhere. If it really isn't as good as it looks, I'll give up looking for episodes.

It stars super cute child duo Mana Ashida and Fuku Suzuki, along with Dondo Bare's Minami Higa.

End Credits

Too cute.

After the 9th episode this series continues to be a very popular show. Every week the ratings go up, most recently a 17.2. With the exception of Ep 3 which was a very small drop, every week the ratings have gone up.

Eps are cropping up on Veoh and other tube sites and if you haven't seen it you must check it out.

You can get it with english subtitle SRT files here, but the first sub set doesn't match the video file. You will need to get the "version 2" of episode 1 of the video file for the subtitles to match up. But the other episodes are great and high quality. It is definitely worth the work to download.

There is also a link to Maru Maru Mori Mori which is the ending theme song; very cute too.

I agree, it is a very cute drama. I try to catch it on Sunday nights whenever I can. The "twins" are getting a lot of attention, and their single (ending theme for the drama) is doing very well! I often catch my kids singing the song between classes, and some of them can even do the dance perfectly.

Well the final episode aired to huge ratings, 24% and peaked over 27%. What a great show. A special has been announced but no air date yet or what it will actually be.

I just wish they would do multiple seasons like Partners gets. They have a great thing going with an excellent storyline and huge ratings. There is so much potential for a multiple season run.

11 episodes isn't enough, I want more! Mad

YAY

Marumo no Okite returns October 9th as a 2 hour special. Filming has started and the entire cast has been reunited.

The original run in the Spring was brilliant and I was excited when FujiTV said they would do a special drama to follow up. It got great ratings and when it went off was replaced with Hana Kimi which is getting abysmal ratings.

I hope FujiTV can put together another full season but with Fuku-kin and Minami-chan getting other drama roles it is doubtful.

October 9th at 9PM on FujiTV, I can't wait!

Oh and if you have seen Marumo already, Saturday Night Live Japan did a funny skit parody of it.

It is a great series. When you're finished don't forget to see the Saturday Night Live Japan sketch I posed earlier. The Marumo sketch starts at around 8:57 in, after the credits and opening monologue. Later in that same episode there is a funny parody of Mr. Taxi where the cast dresses up as SNSD and lip syncs.

They did a really great job mimicking the best of the US Saturday Night Live while making it uniquely Japanese.

The Marumo no Okite Special has been posted in EDTV (450P) and HDTV (720P) at asiancinematic. Still waiting for the upload of Eng sub file(s). It can be downloaded from Megaupload.

Marumo no Okite

I started watching it at work and it's great so far but I'm going to wait until I get home to watch the rest.

The English Subs for the Marumo Special Drama last week are up.

LINK

If you haven't seen Marumo it was one of the highest rated dorama's this spring and I thought it was REALLY good cute show. The special was about 90 minutes and is a sequel that aired on Fuji TV last weekend. The series consistently rated in the high teens with a monstrous 23% or something like that during the finale. The special drama was also a huge ratings grabber easily winning the entire Sunday night for FujiTV. I hope that will motivate them to make lots more sequels.

To use the subs you just need to name the file as the same name as the episode. The subtitle file (the SRT file) has the filename for the 450P version but I tried it with the 720P HDTV version after renaming it and the timing was really darn close, close enough I didn't have to fix it. Most advanced video players like VLC (for Mac or Windows) will play the video merely by opening the SRT file instead of the actual video file. In OS X I use MPLAYER which you can get from the OS X App Store and it also works great with subtitled videos but VLC actually has a few more features including deinterlace settings for smoother appearance.

Mana-chan's parents need to put the brakes on things a bit. CM's, music, television appearances PLUS a new regular dorama role are too much. As Yumi-chan states in that article it is way too much and she is the one to know, having lived the life of a young actress.

Rest Mana-chan. We love you and your work but it is more important that you stay happy and healthy! Love
