As some of you might already know, I have been working on a project for a while now. I making a Tribute song Ai's Style! 
Here's the thing; I like that song so much now that I want to add lyrics to it. So, basically, I'll need someone (could be result of teamwork as well, I don't care) to write some lyrics, and someone who could sing it as well. If we really can't find anyone to sing it, I'll do it, but I'd prefer not too, since a girl voice would be much more suitable for the song. And I'm asking you guys because I think, most of all, if it comes from fans, in the end we will feel the essence of Ai in the lyrics and the voice.

A tribute song for Ai? I'm in! <3
Since tomorrow I've got some time, I will download the song and listen to it. If I get inspired, I'll think about lyrics. Have you got any theme in mind or is it just a matter of free imagination of the potential writer? I presume that the lyrics should refer to love or Ai herself, including all the stuff she's been writing about so far, am I right?
If you agree, I can spread the word using my blog Let's gather as many people as possible to work on this project! This is definitely worth doing, especially now when Ai is inactive Maybe we'll create something really memorable! |

I have no restriction at all, as long as the lyrics fit with the music and as long as it is similar to what Ai could do herself. So, basically, I do not have a theme for the song, but going with the theme that Ai use the most often will be a good start.
And go ahead and post it on your blog as well, the more the better I say. If we spread the word, we might find exactly what we need to complete the song |

Well, I was more thinking to do it in Japanese than English. And I think it doesn't matter in what language we actually write the song because we can always translate it afterward. The best result would be to write it straight away in Japanese or to just keep the song in whatever language we will write it. And if you were thinking about writing in french, one of my friend is studying Japanese at the university so he can translate it french to Japanese easily, or I can do the same for French to English if needed.
I still think that Japanese lyrics would fit best with the song tough 
As for singing, well, we gotta write the song first haha. After that we'll see what people can do, and we'll take the best I guess. |

listening to it now as i type this. this is really good. really reminds me of her songs buts its fan made which is what makes it so cool.
wish i could contribute in some way. maybe i can think of a suggestion for the song theme later to help out or something |

Maybe you can, my bass doesn't work anymore so the only thing I can actually record are the rhythm and the lead guitar. I was planing on just adding the 2 guitar on the midi track I have made, since all the other instruments sounds good. But if you really wanna do something you (or your girlfriend) could always record the bass, that is if you have the time and a way to record it. I've got the tab written in gp6 already too, but you probably figure that out haha.
But I know how time consuming recording can be and especially if you have to learn a song that someone else made, and the bass track in midi still sound great, so there is no real need to do it either. It's all up to you.
Drum and Piano track could always be recorded as well. I really doubt we could find a drummer for that though. The piano could be really easy to record and still get a great sound ( I don't have one myself unfortunately ), and unlike most of the other track, this one doesn't play the whole song, so it can be learned pretty easily
As for the other tracks (Synths and celesta), I think they are fine as they are, considering they are mostly ambient effect.
I'm just throwing idea here though. I have no problem with the midi track plus the 2 guitar tracks. I think just that is going to give a professional sound already. |

All right, I've already posted the announcement about the project Now I'm thinking about other ways to spread the word. What about creating a group on Last.fm and announcing it on Ai-chin's shoutbox? I can take care of it

Wow, your post is awesome!! Beautiful yet looking serious, all the information is there, you even got a picture in it, and did all this in like no time, haha. So yeah, you've got full control if you wanna talk about it elsewhere obviously you did a great job, so i'm not worried.
And thanks for mentioning that it was me who did the song
I'm really happy that everybody like the song so far too. I putted a lot of effort studying her music, to be able to replicate her style without copying her song. I wanted to make a song that Ai could have wrote herself, but something that you couldn't say : that part comes from Sakuranbo! and the chorus comes from Chu-lip! So basically, something unique. Hopefully we will be able to do the same with the vocal. If needed I'll also make a Midi track as a guide line for the vocal once we are ready for it, but in my opinion, there are probably some people that are more used singing Ai's song than me and might do a better job than me so it can fit better with the song. The best would be to let the person who will sign do it, Since a voice is like no other instruments and the person himself is the one who know it best.
Oh, and I like the idea about the video. It give more option for people who want to contribute, and it's a really original idea.

send the gp6 over here AEnema, my gf is busy with school she had a chemistry internship and whatnot but i can prolly give it a go on the bassline and guitar since i borrowed my friends microphone. i get so nervous recording i always mess up once its so annoying but i can keep trying till i get something good.
and loveskywalker, love how you're spreading the word! i was just thinking yesterday what if after the song is finished, it actually some how gets back to otsuka ai? that would be a trip!
EDIT: I'm adding the forum post and your blog to the facebook page of otsuka ai to see if anyone else would want to see it. i wrote a post but it was too long so i had to separate it into two posts.
EDIT AGAIN:....nvm they are hating on me, they either immediately turned my post invisible or erased it on the fan page. |

I'm always happy to help, especially when it's an Ai-chin-related project! As I mentioned, this is a great idea, so supporting it is just a right thing to do. I'll do the Last.fm promo tomorrow

I thought about the same thing. The finished song could be posted on YouTube and we could contact Ai-chan somehow (via Avex maybe?...) or send her a CD with the recorded song. I imagine that this could be difficult to do, but it's definitely worth trying. This way she could realize that she's got an international recognition, too! What do you think?
And AEnema, perhaps it would be a good idea to upload your instrumental on YouTube to make the song more accessible to all the people who would be interested in participating in the project What do you say? And we could make a YouTube channel for this project... And a Facebook page...

I posted your link to send suggestions and this thread and about a few minutes later i saw that it was taken off the page. i then noticed that every starting post is by an admin of the page so maybe i overstepped some boundaries even though i didn't intentionally mean to.
it's really okay though there are other ways to spread the word.
EDIT: NVM again lol. they moved my link over to another section of the page check under links it's still there. |

It's there, but you have to switch to "Newest posts (from everybody)" (whatever it sound like in English) One person likes it
Maybe if the administrator approves it, your post will appear on the main page on the wall |
