There's a Younha thread?
Next to Ai Otsuka, Younha is my favourite J-pop artist. |

Yes. It was one of the very first threads i looked for on this forum. but no one has said anything there for almost a year, it's probably on the second or third j-pop section page...so i plan on reviving it soon.
Oooohh...there's already a considerable amount of younha's music in the off-topic downloads. i was planning on sharing her album and hoping to revive the thread. no worries...i think i'll use some of her newer singles than. |

Hi to davedim and Mansley! I like Younha music very much too! Please continue information about her! I purchased her album from on line and I downloaded her singles from file sharing. I know many Japanese music stars are Korean like her, that's okay.
My opinion: The Four Greatest Voices Of Japan = Namie Amuro (R&B, pop), Hikaru Utada (pop, experimental music), Tomiko Ban (rock, jazz), and Aya Matsuura (pop, jazz). I was disappointed especially when Do As Infiniti stopped, but then I listened Tomiiko Ban's first album Farewell and I was amazed! she is great jazz singer! and she will do this now. I think Matsuura will do the same, she has astonishing voice!
However, my favorite singers, I like to listen to their music most often:
Aya Matsuura (folk songs! and some pop songs like "Love Chance!")
Ai Otsuka (my favorites are "Amaenbo" and "Always Together" but I like most her songs!)
Yui (I am learning to play guitar now, I will learn her songs! especially "Skyline")
Younha (Wow! energy!)
PUFFY (they are really good band, and fun! most popular in Japan, ten years!)
My opinion: future top singers in Japan will include Miki Fujimoto, who will become R&B singer like Amuro, who is her personal role model. |

quite a few koreans are entering the japanese music industry indeed. boa and younha are the only two to make it pretty nicely onto the oricon charts, as far as i know. although that was a couple months ago and new koreans are coming in so i might be wrong. anyway i am starting to like K and june who just did a bleach ending, are both koreans. and more...i think rain? i dunno but yeah, koreans.
a little more in depth about my tastes...i consider currently only 6 artists that i fully enjoy and love their music...
younha - woooo what a strong voice and awesome piano skills.
nana kitade - my first favorite j-pop artist. her voice is a little odd but she plays guitar! lately i've been enjoying her music less...
uverworld - only male artist here...they rock!
tainaka sachi - mostly a ballad singer, but her voice is pretty.
kaoru amane (erika sawajiri) - incurable disease? *ahem* i mean she's an actress not a singer, so as expected her voice isn't the best for singing. still somehow i really enjoy her only single so far.
and of course ai otsuka - late addition to my favorites list, added around the same time as kaoru amane. i don't need to give her an introduction here but in general she sings either pop songs or slow songs. her slow songs are all real nice and some of her pop songs are really catchy and awesome but some i kind of don't like.
ai's the only one so far to release more than one album among those six and tainaka and kaoru have yet to even release an album. uverworld and nana kitade both have their second albums coming out within a few months.
favorite albums
younha - go younha
nana kitade - 18 -eighteen
uverworld - timeless
ai otsuka - love punch, love jam, love cook (?)...actually i still haven't listened to any of them in their entirety so i don't have a preference. i think love jam, since it has kingyo hanabi, daisuki da yo, and friends, or if not then love cook because it has planetarium...
favorite singles
younha - houkiboshi, te wo tsunaide
nana kitade - kesenai tsumi, utareru ame
uverworld - d-tecnolife, colors of the heart
tainaka sachi - (actually only has 3 singles, all of which are similar to me...so no preference)
kaoru amane - taiyou no uta (i know it is a bit strange considering this might be her only release ever)
ai otsuka - planetarium, frienger
i realized lately my music is heavily dominated by female vocals. somehow the males usually make rock bands...and with rock bands a lot of the times there's music i both really like and really hate. (but uverworld was good enough to grace my elite favorite artists still) so rock bands turn out to be more of average artists when i prefer more well-rounded artists. |
