I'm not a regular poster or anything, but I was really curious about this, so hopefuly y'all can humor me.
The Ai Otsuka page on the English Wikipedia says that Ai plagiarized "Smily". That was pretty big news to me, and I couldn't find any of this controversy on the Web — I didn't even see anything on the Japanese Wikipedia. So, has anybody heard anything about this? I'm almost inclined to think somebody is just pissed that Ayu has competition. |

I'll write on Wikipedia that the information is NOT confirmed and still a rumour. I have an account on that website and I update frequently Ai's page and this has been written only a few days ago.. just remember that this story is NOT true. You know, there's some haters out there trying to spread totally fake rumors about celebrities  |

Actually, I was planning to delete the remark if nobody here has heard anything, because like I said, that page is the only reference to this "controversy" I can find. How much of a controversy can that be? I think somebody is trying to start a rumor.

Hey, I wouldn't trust that encyclopedia. Everyday people like us get to write up these things and you never know when someone who hates Ai would just write something like that just to defame them. So, just don't believe it, someone probably hates Otsuka Ai. Shame on them  ! |

i doubt its true...cause I told people on jpopsuki that I like ai otsuka more than ayumi and they all flipped out and were dissing ai...  ...so we know people that hate her are out there trying to ruin her rep. |

I found out what the page was talking about. Apparently there was some controversy on Japanese blogs saying that she copied the chorus of the song "friend" by wyse. It doesn't seem to have made it onto the English-speaking side, though, or been considered a big enough deal to make it into any major publications. One helpful person put up a comparison between the two songs. What do y'all think? |

| wow they r really similar but..coincidence's happen more often than u may think.. and plus they probally only pointed out the similar parts...and not all that song sounded the same |

smily is so upbeat compared to that..and that almost changes the whole music |
