Hihi everyone
just wondering if you guys have ever ate/made onigiri?
onigiri is a riceball filled with something inside wrapped in seaweed
the something can be anything...i usualli put some dried pork shreds
it tastes gud
well first of all u will need:
rice
a small cooking pot
rice vinegar
seaweed (precut into long rectangular sheets that will wrap around onigiri)
black sesame seeds
salt
cutting board
something to put into the onigiri (eg dried pork shreds)
wooden spoon
1) Use 4 cups of rice with 6 cups of water, put on med power, until it boils.
2) After it boils, turn to low heat, add in 1 teaspoon of rice vinegar.
3) Let it cook for half an hour on low power.
4) Let it cool for 10 minutes, separate into as many section with a wooden spoon as u like, depending on how big or small u want the onigiris to be.
5) Wash your hands, rub them with salt so the rice won't stick, scoop out a section of rice into palm. grab a pinch of black sesame seeds, mix with rice, roll into a triangular ball shape
6) Poke a hole in the bottom n stuff with finger, stuff in a little of the some the something you want in the onigiri. Seal the hole with the seaweed.
7) Ta-da! n its done! now do the same thing to the rest of the rice n then u will hav lots of onigiris ^^
*if u need help or am confused about any of the instructions pm me
i will try to help u the best that i can!
i will post more recipes later ^^
onigiris are usually in "bentos" or "box lunches/dinners"
it is a fun snack! i luv it lol!
yummi! i fink i will make some tonite! |

Uhm... Sounds good ^_^ I don't know if I've had it before (probably not)
I'm definitly NOT a good cook It's deadly when I'm in the kitchen BAWHAHAHA
It sounds easy enough to make. Sounds a bit like sushi too (seaweed and rice part) |

lol, I voted for "No", and I really hate cooking, because it takes a lot of work to make a meal. I bet most guy doesn't like to cook, but I'm forced to cook because I want to save money. You know, I'm an international student and my mum isn't here to prepare every meal for me, and buying meal from restaurant everyday is just ridiculous unless you're dirt rich.
So yeah, cooking is a pain for me, but I have to do it anyway. Regarding the recipe you posted, I'm sure it will taste good if you make it right, and it does sounds like sushi to me! I like sushi very much, as long as there's no raw fish in it!
You said you should rub your hand with salt before rolling the onigiri, I'm just wondering if someone clumsy will just grab a handful of salt and as a result all the onigiri will taste like salty rice. |

hehe! same as eyn im sn international student too! so i voted NO! i hate cooking and in school we had to take a subject called F&N which is crappy we learn how to cook..guess wat i ran away from the cookin exam!
so in sec 3 no more f&n (chooses POA) my parents were not here so im forced to cook too even if i dun like in singapore the food is way too expensive!!unless of course i live in malaysia i can afford to buy from hawker everyday
and the onigiri we can onli use dried pork shred??hmm i thnk i would already finshed eating all the ingredients before even stating to cook the onigiri |

I'm not much of a cook. I'd try your recipe if I could get ahold of all of the ingredients and could actually cook WELL. Lol. I like cooking, though. I make macaroni and cheese a million times a week, but that doesn't really count. I always put music on and forget about it and it overcooks. I do occasionally cook brownies or a cake when I'm cold or bored or craving something chocolatey. |
