Oh...thanks 1337rice I forgot to look it up on Wikipedia.
It's so sad that there are still racist people I hate that people bring race into their insulting Obama. It just doesn't make sense to me, and I find it sad. |

Seems the red sky and orange haze across Sydney brought out the worst in people. ( it was a really weird day here yesterday, we woke up to a red sky and a huge orange mist everywhere - there was big duststorm during the night and all the red sand from central Australia got carried over the mountains into the city - I've never seen anything like it in my life ).
@sljinu, btw, you might be catching the same train as me sometimes, and if you got on at central you are probably going to the same uni I went to |

Glad your mom is doing better sljinu I hope she has a speedy recovery.
And to your relative too, sakuraangel
Oh gosh, post count wars... I remember that from a long long time ago...Right, Jerome?
And at your story, sljinu. People are ridiculous... Little old racist people are such a joke
@ octo
Yeah, personally for me, sophomore year was crap but that had more to do with what was going on for me outside of school than inside. Inside was pretty boring...but I made a really good friend that year and she's one of my best friends now And BLARGH I can't believe I'm a senior. I feel like such an old fogey All the little kids think me and my best friend are younger though! It's so annoying for sophomores to think they're so cool and treat us like freshies.
So we're just rude right back
@ flintandtas
Oh I saw that on the news! I saw people cleaning up afterwards. That looked insane... |

^ Thanks thanks! She's teaching more piano as well atm so that's a good thing. And yeah, racists..... = =
Oh, and the duststorm news seems to have reached all over the place. Friends were telling me they had people calling from Canada or Singapore asking how it was like. When I was on my way to uni that morning, you couldn't even see any buildings when we crossed the Harbour Bridge. Everything was hazy and yellow...literally looked like an apocalypse. And it was red earlier that morning lol. One person called a radio station and said that it was raining mud while another called and said she thought that South Korea dropped a nuke on us No comment hahah |

thanks flintandtas. I've been a member of many forums but they're all different so I hope to get a good feel on the way things work around here. |

Wow...sounds like it woulda been really cool to see though Did you take any pictures? Have there been dust storms there before?
Oh, yes, because it would be South Korea to drop the nukes wouldn't it?
@ erickmtz
Yeah, welcome Hope you have fun getting used to Ch-Ai! The setup is fairly easy to understand, so I'm sure you'll do fine |

@sljinu
I'm so glad to hear she's feeling well enough to teach piano! I'm glad all my thoughts and hopes for you and her came true.
@ Keru
Yeah, that's kinda how sophomore year is for me. Aw. Seniors. I love seniors. Well, most of them. They're so nice to me, and we make all these weird jokes. I don't like this year's freshmen though. Weird rumors circulate about them, and...yeah. It's like watching a soap opera...but everyone's fourteen/fifteen. Which is pretty gross.
@ericmtz
Welcome to the forum! I absolutely love your sig, it's so cute! I hope you stick around and enjoy yourself |

^ Thanks ^_^
@Keru: Pictures? Hmm, not of the city. I took some from my backyard but it looks like it just has a sepia tone to it. So yeah, just take a photo, use the sepia effect and that's what it looked like in reality. As for the city...just imagine a city covered in fog and then use a mental sepia effect on that too
It's also my friend's birthday coming up in a week...I hate birthdays cos I never have any idea what to get the other person and it often drives me crazy. Any suggestions? She's 19, Taiwanese and not overly Asian (ie not too FOB lol) if that helps?? I'm willing to spend up to AUD50 and if all else fails, I'll either go for a book or a gift voucher (those are last resorts!!). Can anyone help me? =( |

I have the same problem! Except I have to get the gift today I told my friend not to expect a really great present because he only gave me the invitation two days ago
It's a bit easier for me to get gifts for girls, since I can get them clothes and shoes and whatnot. It's a lot harder for the opposite gender. Personally, I really like getting things like CDs and movies. Last year I got this same friend Iron Man, and he ended up watching that movie once a month, so I'm probably going to go in the same vein and get him another movie this year...although I really like being original, I just don't have time for it.
Silly things are fun too. If you have time to hang out with her soon, do it! Talk to her, and see what comes up in conversation. Maybe you guys will make a joke about something, My friend got me rain boots after we mentioned that rain boots would be absolutely useless in this state. It rains once every few months. |

^ Ah I have trouble getting anything for anyone lol. It's so much more convenient to not have to worry about these things and I think nobody getting me a present is a fair trade off Oh well...I'll just see what comes up then...one friend actually recommended something like a scarf which doesn't sound like a bad idea. |

Wow, that's intense Did it smell weird?
Hmm, yeah I was gonna suggest a CD if you know what music she likes or a movie or something. But octo is right, gag presents are fun
If all else fails gift certificate or even just cash. It's not creative, but I dare you to find someone who doesn't like getting free money |
