I think it is a good thing people are getting annoyed
by Sakuranbo actually. If Sakuranbo didn't become
a hit, she wouldn't have continued as a singer you know.
I'm rather thankful that people are getting annoyed.
Plus, you don't have to listen to it if you don't want to.
Regardless of anything, Otsuka Ai herself isn't annoying.

^ Uhh I dont really see what you're getting at = =;;

It's good that people are getting annoyed by the song that made Ai famous? I'm not defending Sakuranbo or anything (in fact I'm in the 'annoyed' category) but what your trying to say isn't very explicit.

Try the fact that the song has had such a long-running success and has been played to death by so many people is testament to the good fortune that Ai has had with that song. If you didn't keep hearing it, it wouldn't be able to annoy you.

This is good for Ai in that this means it's been an incredibly long-lasting hit for her. This success has then enabled her to continue doing her thing.

That song is so up beat and happy, that I can't help but smile whenever I hear it. Its not my favorite, but still I'm more than happy to listen to it.

I still love it too, so neither her or the song are getting annoying to me.

haha it's the anniversary of the last time anyone posted in this grandpa thread Giggle

most of the discussion is around Sakuranbo. I don't think it's annoying, just played-out.

with a new album under her belt she certainly isn't annoying. she actually is having kinda this fresh new vibe with Bye Bye, like she's ready to take on 2009 with a face that says "Yeah I can totally recover from crappy sales of Rocket Sneaker!! and Kurage, Nagareboshi !!... yeah! .. whoo..." Grandpa threads. Where does that leave the grandmas? Laughing

Well, going back to the first page where the first post was about 4 years ago!! Laughing I reckon Sakuranbo is a really cool song and was her breakout single I guess. I don't really find it annoying despite the fact that it's been around 5-6 years ago but if you say so, whatever floats your boat! Smile

As of now, Ai's not annoying at all! I love how she experimented with her LOVE LETTER album with more upbeat songs than I thought that would be on the album. Every artist improvises with new beats, it's a part of their career to try something new at times!

I never really liked "sakuranbo" but it was a HUGEx3 hit in Japan. When you say Ai Otsuka, the first thing people think is "sakuranbo". It's always on karaoke song charts, etc. It is her signature song though. So of course to fans it will get annoying after a while. But to casual fans they love. It's like Hikaru Utada and "First Love" or JUDY AND MARY and "sobakasu". It wasn't really their best song, but it was/is their most famous and most requested. I have always prefered Ai-chin's ballads to her pop songs though. I will listen to "sakuranbo" rarely.

personally i don't find any of Ai's songs annoying. i may not LOVE to listen to some of them, but none to the extent of annoyance i guess. additionally, sakuranbo is pretty mild imo Tongue

having said that, i do prefer her ballads and "feel-good" style songs over the bouncy/crazy ones.

I only find some of her songs to be annoying, or repetitive for that matter.

But the majority of her songs are really good.

Considering that I still regularly listen to her old stuff more than her newer songs, I'll have to say no. But then, I've been listening to her for so long now that I've kind of attached songs like Sakuranbo and Amaenbo to events in my life and I get all nostalgic when I hear them. I did get annoyed with CHU-LIP after a while, but that's about all.

I can understand why someone might get annoyed with her voice or whatever though. It is quite high-pitched.
