Lately I've been thinking about buying a good digital camera. I don't want the usual point and shoot cameras though. I would like to learn from my camera and become more experienced.
So I would like to have some control over aperture and exposure and controls of that sort. I'd be happy if anyone could give me any tips, links or cameras which are suitable for me since I'm not very experienced in this sector ^^;
Anyhow thank you for your time. |

Hihi Rinoa
nice to meet you i think this is the first time i talked to you lol

when i first got my digicam i was very stupid

since the prices go down so fast
i paid about $530 for everything
my camera is a pentax optio
and i bought a case for it
and the memory card
the sd card was actually lik $100
so my camera was $349.99 before tax
i hate CANADA'S TAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hello kikubelle =)
I am pleased to meet you and talk to you.
I guess when you see a new model of a camera you get very excited ^^ but yeah prices for electronics always go down fast. We have taxes too in Malta.. very high. Which brands do you suggest? Lately I'm interested in panasonic and canon. |

Hi there Rinoa, I'm not an expert regarding which camera is good or bad since I've been using my Sony Cybershot P2 all these time, but still, I would recommend you to buy camera from either Sony or Canon.
First of all, my camera is a Sony and I think it's pretty cool and the LCD has very nice resolution. While I was in Europe few weeks back I was using my parent's Canon Powershot A70 and I don't really like it. I don't know, maybe I'm not too used to its feature but it does have manual exposure and focus etc. I think part of the reason is I've been using my Sony for a long time and it's quite hard to get used to a new camera from a different brand (all buttons, knobs, case design are all very different). So it might take some time for you to get used to a new digital camera, do some experiment shooting with it and start to love it.
A good site to search for good camera is CNET.com, as they have tons of reviews on cameras from different manufacturers and you can read the user reviews too, which are always the best and most useful thing to read while choosing a product. Here's some link for you:
Canon Cameras
Sony Cameras
Don't make your decision that is based solely upon the reviews and comments on one site. After you have chosen some potential candidates for your purchase based on reviews from one site, try to search for other reviews about a certain model from other site through search engine. Once you are quite sure what model you want after you all the research, go to the shop, try it out yourself, and make the ultimate decision. |

by the way rinoa,
beside canon and sony, you can go for Panasonic Lumix series. I recommend Lumix FX-8 (the latest) because if you are looking for a budget and good quality, Lumix FX-8 has it all. It have the same looks like Sony Cybershot, big screen, and almost same functions but it it cheaper than Sony. I'm not sure the price in your country but my country, it selling around RM1400++ (approx. USD370+).
eyn, no offence for u,
the reason i'm not recommend sony because I get piss off by this brand name many times. |

haha ken, i have sony
i have to say im pretty satirfied, and i doubt iit has such a famous name for nothing..panasonic is cool too, ayumi has many CMs lol
so rinoa did u went to any shop, i bet they know a lot of the budget-quality thing
i have sony cyber-shot 5MP - its very good and im very satisfied, it costed around 250-300 euros plus +100 more for a next memory stick..dont forget the memory stick, some of them come with only a tiny (offending imo) memory card that makes the camera somewhat really useless..so consider thsi as well |

Yes, memory is very important thing in a digicam but consider this rinoa...look for digicam that using a SD/MMC memory card because it is very easy to find anywhere in computer shops but memory sticks like XD and other type of memories are hard to find and usually only available at the specialist camera shop, AND it is normally very expensive like spirus's memory stick (euros 100+) but if u buy digital camera using MMC/SD memory card, the memory card only causing less than USD50 |
