| Well, our fourm members are getting more recently, but it seems those members who really post msgs r less than 10persons. How bout the rest? Are they just pure leechers who only want to download all those ai's stuff? Anything we can to by killing all these pure leechers? |

lol, I agree there's always leechers in every forums who never participate and only download stuff when they comes out. It's okay for the moment, some people might be too shy to post, you never know! If bandwidth is used up really fast then I will implement some measure to deal with it.
Can't believe we have 99 members already, it's been only about a month, which is not too bad a results. I will prune those users that does not log on for a certain period, or probably those with 0 posting, I'll see what is a better way to clean up the memberlist.  More member isn't always better if nobody participates. |

| ^ true especially with a problem of blocking files but it doesn't seem that big of a problem for now. |

| Hope there's anyway to prevent ppls hotlink our stuff to some other freaky forum... |

On my forum, I have an option which consists on hide the link of the download.
For exemple, I post a download and you see :
"Le message contient une partie cachée"
(The message has an hidden zone)
For view the link, the member must be reply at the subject.
Hum... I thinks it's a good system because some leechers doesn't want to write... It's sooooooooooo difficult you know ^^ |

Don't worry, hotlinking will not work on Channel-Ai server, because I'm the power admin! Try hotlinking your avatar here at other forum, it won't work!

keitaro, I've been to your forum before and I know you're using CoolForum, which probably have the hidden content function, but not in phpbb as far as I know. Such function will probably be implemented in phpbb3, or not. If I really go to the point where such function is required, I might as well put the downloads under password protected directory and send password to everyone that actually participate. |

hmmm, maybe we can like, block the download pages strictly for members who have 10 posts and above?
at least that way they can introduce themselves and be a part of the forum, instead of lurk around and leech |

Haha, i don't really like this kind of idea in some sense, it seems like 'forcing' our members to post msgs, even they do the post, it may becuz of the stuff that we uploaded. Don't u guys think so?
Oh well, if u asking me bout some other effective ways, i don't really know.  I just hope there is a better way, instead of using the idea that u mentioned. |

ya!!! i too hate leechers!!! they just signed up for the sake of the files, maybe eyn should shorten the removal of those who those with 0 post from 3months to maybe 2 or even shorter.or maybe set up a quiz for ai fans to find out the passwords to download stuffs? so that those who didn't really are Ai's fans will buzz off trying to slove it? haha! what do you tink of ths idea? |

Thanks for the feedback guys. So far the total download bandwidth for the forum is still under control and the server have plenty bandwidth to spare, so it doesn't really matter, for now at least.
When the forum gets bigger and bigger (hopefully), and eventually reaches the bandwidth limit, then I will have to implement something else. For now, most download are open for everyone.  |

this can cause other members who want the videos to always post things that are not related which mean tt they post a lot just to get tt videos... |

It's already done for the Channel-Ai videos. I'm doing it such that people who never post and only download can't get the files. When I say never post I don't want them to flood the download forum with thank you too, many people doesn't realize that, and nobody read the rules obviously. |

i think that's reasonable for now. When this site does get more popular i think eyn will probably have to change the rules.
and ninja person has a good point. I remember at a different form(japankore) they did that. People would post and waste space and time. I think because of that rule, about having a certain number of post, some dumb person put a bug in the site and the whole thing crashed and they had to restart everything, which is still taking forever. |
