I guess thhe very first reason why I got into japanese music was my cousin Feona. She always had japanese music on. I'm not sure which cousin gave me a Japanese cd but a few of the songs were good. I think it was best songs from late 1990s or something, I can't read the album name. So anyway the songs I just loved on the album was Automatic by Utada Hikaru.
I realy started to get into jpop/jrock when I started watching anime constantly and I just love the songs.
Tsukiko Amano is the first singer that I got obssessed with her music and then Mizuki Nana. Then Do As Infinity.
Amano and Ai are just awesome~

This tape full of jpop songs that my mom's friend gave us when I was in 1st grade :D. I didn't listen to american music before...and so I got hooked on Utada Hikaru's Automatic, and that was the beginning of the jpop-ness 8D

The Nintendo DS commercials featuring Utada Hikaru. I can still remember her wearing that red dress and playing the DS in a white room while Easy Breezy played in the background. Therefore, Hikki was my key to the world of Japanese Pop.

For me, I was into J-Pop many years ago.. well, not really. Around Primary 5(5th Grade) or so, a friend introduced to me Hamasaki Ayumi and I was wondering who in the world was she. So I went to Google and searched for her. I saw that she's a really pretty woman and mistook her for a doll at first. XD

So that was when I started watching YouTube and there was this Pita Ten AMV that I watched and the song playing was ANGEL'S SONG by Hamasaki-san. I was addicted for to it quite a while and soon, I was into J-Pop myself.

Then came Tamaki Nami, the oh-so-cool female singer. I searched for her song's PV, Reason on YouTube and that was when I met Otsuka Ai. (: These three female Japanese singers remain my top three because they were the ones who made me turn into a J-Pop fan. Without J-Pop, I don't think I could ever survive just listening to English music.

My friend Kayla liked Inuyasha, and tried to get me into it, but I at first I was like 'This is sooo stupid!' But then I got into it and noticed they had the original japanese endings so I looked 'em up on youtube and WHAM! Jpop galore~ Which is now why I love it soo much Laughing

See, my cousin got me hooked on anime and manga, and I showed them to my best friend when we were in fourth grade. She became obsessed with them and then she fell into the insatiable addiction that is J-Pop. Then she showed me some songs she had. I wasn't that interested but then later on I heard Ayumi Hamasaki's "Evolution" and I was thinking, "Why the heck hadn't I gotten into this before?" and the rest...well, yeah...

Me? Utada. Definitely Utada.
I was hooked on her the moment i heard her, on the game Kingdom Hearts.
There isn't any J-Pop exposure living here in the UK, so i had to investigate. ^_^
Soon after, i discovered people like Ayu, Ai, Mika Nakashima, Angela Aki, YUI...the list goes on.
I began collecting Utada's albums about a year ago and i'm still obsessed!

So awesome! ^_^

I was browsing podcasts with my PSP at lounger.co.uk or something and came upon a podcast called "Learn Japanese", I got interested in it and downloaded some. I later became bored and forgot about it. Then with my homebrew capable PSP, I downloaded this game called PSP Revolution which is similar to DDR but you only use the control buttons. I became interested in the game and found an anime version which had like tons of different songs. I became interested in Japanese once more and went back to that podcast. Then I wanted to hear japanese music so I searched for groups and singers. I found an about.com page with tons of artists and randomly clicked on Glay. I got some of their songs, and those interested me, but not for very long. Then I found Amuro Namie, those songs are good Smile. Then I read some random stuff about her and found that her rival is this person I've never heard of before then, Ayumi Hamasaki.

I don't remember how I came to this site though.

My friend was a huge Inuyasha freak (at that time). She would play all the opening and ending themes when I was at her house. I would ask her if she knew what they were saying (in english) and she told me that she had no idea and I thought "Why would you listen to something when you don't know what they are saying." Then when I watch the first episode of Inuyasha, I was hooked then soon ask for a burn cd of the songs. My obsession with J-pop started and lead me to a show call Pop Japan Tv. I was hoping for some Utada or Ayumi but found Nami Tamaki and Zone. And finding about Ai-chan was thanks the Channel Ai.

Now I like J-pop more then my friend. Shocked

Can't remember exactly but it's probably after watching FLCL anime and really getting into that soundtrack by the Pillows. Made me think what else was I missing out on that could be this good. Shortly after that I discovered Ai and then I was hooked!

i started listening to Jpop coz my friend's brother had all these Japanese anime songs ~ and i thought they were pretty good ( well, compared to some of the music we get in Australia, it's pretty good ) so yeah xD

Got hooked on to Ai's music after hearing it on the net, then again in Hana Yori Dango.
