Right now I'm in the middle of Tokyo Suckerpunch by Isaac Adamson. I thought it would be a good read because it's a detective story that takes place in Japan. It turned out to be completely different than I expected. The characters and plot-line are very far-fetched, but it's meant to be, so it doesn't make it completely unenjoyable. It's like a comedy, with a mystery thrown in, I guess. The component of the book that has kept me reading though is all the cultural references and seeing the direct translations of keigo (honorific language) and Osaka dialect.
A summary: The main character, Billy Chaka, is a journalist from Cleveland, Ohio, who's in Japan to do a story for his paper "Youth In Asia" <--that's a good example of some of the book's humor right there.
Getting tangled up with a bunch of gangs and religious agencies looking for this one mysterious geisha and the mystery of his friend's death both get in the way though. It's been a good read so far. Has anyone else read it?

"The Death Of A Salesman" by Arthur Miller. I'm still in the beginning, and of right now it isn't good.

I'm reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontė. Hands down one of my favorite books. I've read it so many times! I would try to describe it, but I don't think I could do it justice. There are some wonderful reviews on the website I linked with it though. Love

"Memoirs of a Geisha" I have a feeling no introductions are needed about this book.

It doesn't get better.

Have you read Jane Eyre by her sister Charlotte Brontė? I happen to like that one better. Emily's book was too depressing.

Right now I'm reading The Killing Hour by Lisa Gardner. It's about a serial killer, and how a detective solves the case. I only just started it though, so I don't know much. I hope it ends up being a good book! I'm really into detective stories right now.

I actually haven't read Jane Eyre yet. It's on my to read list after I read Memoirs of a Geisha, Pride and Prejudice, and finish the Chronicles of Narnia. I want to get those all out of the way so I can watch the movies. Tongue

The fact that Wuthering Heights was so dark and depressing is probably part of why I love it so much. Wink

Autobiography of a Geisha. Shows a less glamorous and more realistic outlook on a geisha's life. It's quite interesting.

I just finished:
Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol <-----Amazing! I almost cried, poor Tiny Tim!
Jean Paul Sartre's No Exit <-----Awesome short story. An interesting idea of Hell.
Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn <----Started out dull, but it was really good.

Currently attempting to read:
Crime and Punishment. Wow. <----600+ pages of gibberish.
Closing Time (Catch 22 Companion) <---Not nearly as good as Catch 22.
LOVE JAM <-----Still translating. ^-^'

I'm currently reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It's another one of my favorite classic books. I'm also reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I'm excited to see the movie, but as I've never read the book, I want to read it first. The book is always better than the movie. Same for Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, which I plan to get from the library and read soon.

I love books. Love

currently, i'm reading "the golden compass".
i read it a couple years back, and really wanted
to read the third book in the series. though, i forgot
what had happened, so i reread the first book (which
is the one i'm reading right now.) i'd have to say that
it's a really good book! not only this, but all the books
that are in the series ['his dark matter' series].

i'd recommend it to anyone who likes magic & all
that cool stuff. oh, and bears. i like bears. XD

Currently reading The Oddesey. I'm to the part where he just arrived in Ithica. It's an interesting book, I liked it better than Iliad.

I just read and am currently re-reading Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, along with Pride and Prejudice. <3 Jane Austen. Also reading Things Fall Apart and Night for school.

Anyone a classic book fan?
