Today i got the awfull news when i was reading the www.daiforum.com.
Acording to a letter in their official japanese forum, the group will split up on september 30th.
The following message was found on their website:
Quote: It debuted on September 29, 1999 and the time of six years passed.
Music was able to keep acting well by getting a lot of rootings.
Thank you. I think making the gratitude really a word to be difficult.
And, it has September 29 this year and Do As Infinity comes to face a new turning point.
Do As Infinity came to walk on each road.
Tomonat Yoshiko is a solo artist.
Large Wataryou is a band activity such as "Missile innovation".
Nagaodai is a produce activity, and a writer activity such as "Amasia Landscape".
I think that this is a very natural result flow that three people
aimed at the next step as an artist and a musician.
I want to do to the following music activity through enhanced every
day of six years each obtained treasure whether it is a life.
Do As Infinity will dissolve.
Thank you really for everybody who kept assisting for a long time.
Please expect it of the activity in the future as big as Tomonat Yoshiko, large
Wataryou, and Nagao.
Do As Infinity:TOMIKO VAN , RYO OWATARI , DAI NAGAO & ALL SUPPORTERS.
- Do As Infinity live notification
Last live decision.

Thank you really for everybody.
We will wait in Nippon Budoukan. Please come by all means.

Oh my gosh, it's like ZONE all over again. I'm not a fan, but I'm still really sad about this. It sounds just like when ZONE broke up, so I feel for all DAI fans...
I hope the members find happiness wherever their lives take them and all the fans are ok. |

Oh well, I'm shocked by the news, what can I say? However, when I read the topic title, somehow I know this isn't a hoax or rumour. I don't know, I think it's about time for them to disband, isn't it? I mean, time for them to quit doing the music they've been doing for 6 years and try a different path for their life. Recently, their music hasn't been able to have any breakthrough, and their song is getting a little bland now. I do really like DAI though, they are the first J-Pop band that I really get into.
Their first few singles are really good and diverse, it brings something fresh to the J-Pop music scene, and their music really sound different back then compare to other mainstream stuff. That's what got me hooked, I remember the song I first hear from them is Yesterday and Today, which is used as the theme song for Japanese drama LOVE 2000.
I will miss DAI for sure, and I bet Jason will be really sad upon hearing this news. He's been a DAI fan since the very beginning, they are one of his favourite artist. |

| I really liked DAI. They was the ones to get me into J-Rock, wait, they're the only J-Rock band I really liked. Their "Deep Forest" and "Gates To Heaven" album was good, and now I have to get it now that they're disbanding. Anyway, Tomiko Van is going solo, and this will be her new site: www.avexnet.or.jp/van |

OMG! No way. I pray no one else breaks up any time, soon *gets bad thoughts*
Wow, I really wasn't expecting them to break up now. Really, I'm kinda shocked. Van Tomiko as a solo artist? I'm too used to her in DAI, and honestly, I don't think what she has what it takes to really make it solo. Wow, I'm in shock. I'm not a big fan, but I have some of their albums, and it's really sad that their breaking up. 6 years isn't really that long a time... Bye DAI!! |

Oh my god, i almost cry after i read this. This is one of the most bad news for me in 2005. I always hope to be Japan once, specially support my dearest DAI. I love ban jyan n ryo, why they have to split up?! gaaaaaaaah! Their live performance is really good, and ryo came out with lots of cool skill on guitar (ie wow wow pad). God, i won't have chance to see ryo n ban jyan be on the stage together again. No more collection albums for DAI....sigh.....how i continue to support J-Rock? Ahhh, i goin to die....
By the way, I am watching a Japanese drama Slow Dance. I suppose ban jyan coming up single will be one of the song from Slow Dance OST. The song is still so nice, her vocal is still so lovely. No mood to talk too much, kill me.
Anyway, you can try the streaming of ban jyan coming up new song - Hold Me... |

Yeah, same here =\.
I got one friend though that really likes Tomiko Van and the band as well. I wonder if he heard about this news already though. I'll make sure to let him know as soon as the next time he signs on AIM. |

There was a rumour about the breaking up in the TAO PV when Tomiko went separate ways with uhm... the other person. I don't know too much about D.A.I but they have really good music. Tomiko will go solo (atleast that's good)
I wish them all the luck in whatever they decide to do in the future. |

Ryo's Post
Quote: Hi there, this is Ryo. The reaction to DAI's disband has been more serious than I had initially expected. Actually, a lot has happened during the past 6 years. There were many problems which were unbeknownst to all. On the very first year of DAI's existence, we were literally hanging onto the cliffs. I do not wish to give the wrong impression that I wanted the split just to concentrate on MI. Actually, I would have been perfectly happy to juggle both DAI and MI, because performing for DAI gives me the chance to perform at places such as Budoukan. But things has already gone to the limit...and everything has already been cast in stones.
I can only say this much for now. I'm sorry , everyone.
All members of daiforum should come here. ^_^ |
