3. I just buy because it's from my idol <-- my choice; I buy their CDs because I want to support them. Otherwise, if I only like one or two song from an artist I probably won't buy their CDs. I considered picking -4. Others (specify)- and that would be if I like the contents inside the CD and if it's worth it or not. The other two options are important too...but I mean, I wouldn't buy a CD just because it has a super amazing cover but really sucky contents. And I wouldn't mind buying an expensive CD if the stuff inside is good |

| I usually find songs similar to my favorites or songs that pop up on last.fm. I'll then decide if its worth the money and if I'll get sick of it after a while. |

Most important would be WHO'S CD am I buying then the songs in it, then the cover.
For example I don't care how much the album/single is, as long as my favorite song(s)[LALALA] is in it then I'm buying! Then hopefully the cover is pretty, creative, or sexy. rofl. |

| sole reason for me to buy a CD is: to support the artists i love so much. if i love and care for them so, then i will most likely be pleased by the CD cover (not always) and i will definitely not mind the price. anyway third choice for me. |

Even if the CD is of my idol, the songs on the CD may not be that good, and I'll be really disappointed after I buy it (it has happened several times...). But if I really want the CD because of my idol, I'll tell myself "the songs may not be good, but if the CD cover is nice, then I'll definately have to buy it!" I waste money this way too though... |

The price. I usually just buy stuff I've already listened to (downloaded and stuff), so that's not a problem. Once I was lucky enough with a blind purchase (Ayreon's The Human Equation), but that has yet to happen again.
Sometimes I also buy random Cds from my favorite bands (like Blind Guardian's A Night At The Opera and Somewhere Far Beyond). Stuff I'm going to like by default
(NP: Porcupine Tree - Futile)

It matters about the price to me. Yes, I'm a money hungry person. I make sure it's quite enough for me to afford. Right now, I have $255, it's buying Ai-chin stuff it is!!!!! |

| Other -- Is the artist consistently making good music? In other words, not Ayumi Hamasaki. |

When I buy CD I consider:
(1) I like this singer or band or
(2) I like this type of music and
(3) this CD is album (I don't buy single) because
(4) cost is important! especially Japanese CD is expensive in L.A.
I don't care box cover, I cannot listen to cover in my car, yes? or in my iPod. Anyway I record CD into my computer and make copy for my car, I don't play original, I keep safe in my room!
If I am interested in new singer or band, I listen to samples on iTunes first! so I don't spend my money and discover I don't like! |

hey guess what, i'll look at the songs behind and see if the names are catchy enough, if they are, perhaps i'll just buy it. lol. and those recommanded by friends or i've heard them somewhere i'll definately get it.
i think price is not so much of a prob since it costs like average 20 bucks in singaporefor each cd, so yeah.
and of course, if they were my idol, i'll definately buy it. (: |

here in our country.. one original album is 500 pesos.. equivalent to 10 dollars.. for us its expensive.. so for me.. i will buy it if that artist is really my favorite.. like Linkin Park.. cause i have all there albums/concerts... also when i see some Ai album (which is very rare here in Philippines) i will buy it without hesitation... |

| i consider who the singer is mainly. If it's from one of my favorite artists, chances are...I'll buy it before hearing it b/c I know no matter what, I'll most likely love it. However, if it's by an artist I'm not a fan of, I must hear it first & see what the artist is like. If the artist takes off her clothes too much (like Koda Kumi)...I will NOT buy it; no matter how much I like the songs...I refuse to support such a person; it's an outrage!!! >_< If it's a guy artist, I have to listen & make sure I like the topic he's talking about...I don't support none of those pervs who sing about women in sick ways; I really loathe such people |

I would have to say other.
I only buy singles if I really like the song. I prefer it when I like the B-side to the single as well. And it's rare that I'll jump at buying a single unless it's NANA or Ai Otsuka related or what the first press has something great to offer (which can be rare). |
