Her voice is quite high and is very unique!! However my best friend dosen't like her voice only the tune of her songs  oh well she's a koda fan and I'm not and I think Koda's voice is weird, I'm an Ai Otsuka fan through and through...  |

LOl no personally attacks here please lol....... I'M BOTH KODA AND AI fan so lol.... love the both of them, koda voice is weird to you becos its as unique...
I can't really say Ai voice is contant, i mean, the way her voice sound in " friends " and the one in " pretty voice " is totally different... my Sis hates anyone who sings with the nasal [ can't spell again =( ]... I'm find with the nose block sound lol, too much roughness sounds a lil to mnly sometimes lol... [ i dont mean Ai, her voice is cute at times and serious too lol ] |

Totally, I don't think Ai-chan's voice is not as beautiful and good as other J-Pop artists, I always thinks that it's just her style, she does't sing highly but it doesn't mean she can't. She sing the way she link and it make her different from the other, if every artist just sing highly, that would be boring right?
For example, Britney Spears is not a kind of artist sings high notes, but she choice the way to sing and song that suits her voice (altually I don't think anyone can sing Britney's song as good as her), finally she got the Grammy.
I dont bother with what people say, I know Ai-chan's voice is cute, childish, may be squeaky but who care! is it best fit into happy song. |

acctually, i like both ai and koda kumi's voice. i just think ai's voice is really soothing, dispite what others say about it being "to squeaky". i think it is perfectly fine, i really dont find it to high or squeaky at all, rather tranuil  |

i liked ai when i heard planetarium but when i heard sakuranbo i said her voice is so squeaky.
but i think her voice is cute.in amaenbo her voice is so high.it actually depends on the song.  |

when she sings she sounds special and girly a little bit childish i would say, but i dont think she has squeaky voice.
she can sing high/low pitch so that's not squeaky, right??!  |

WOW..so much comments..too much for me to read them all..  Well I first heard her song in Hana Yori Dango...i liked it then. Then my friend showed me this site.. So downloaded two songs to see how she sings in other types of music..and well...at first I didn't really like it, but it was really catchy and now i listen to it alot.. It just get some time to get used to...after that..you'll probably want to start hearing it everyday..especially when you're sad. It always cheers me up when I listen to one of her upbeat songs. So next time when you're having a bad day, listen to her! She'll really cheer you up.. And for those stubborn people who thinks her voice is squeaky..if you don't have anything nice to say..don't say it! |

I love her voice, it is very sweet and unique.. I dont know somebody that have got her voice.. it is very original and she sings great and fantastic!!!
Futhermore, she sings all type of music, because, she is a big star!!! Ai the best!!!  |

| Okay, to be completely honest...Ai doesn't have a "great" voice. It's good, but it's nothing really amazing like BoA's voice. Sometimes, it can get irritating because she overdoes the nasly sound sometimes like in SMILY...however, it's not bad. She can sing; saying she can't is completely false...not to mention, rude! I just wish she'd start singing more without relying on her nose so much. Kingyo Hanabi is her most beautiful song vocally...because she's not using so much nasal. When she goes into fast songs, she gets really squeaky...not much vocal strength there...I can't hear it and say "what a gorgeous voice!" like I can with Koda Kumi fast songs like "Cutie Honey" or "Butterfly"! It's a pretty voice...=) that's that. What makes me mostly like her is her message in music & her passion for life and music which is so rare among artists these days. Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying her voice isn't good...it's just not astonishing. I think her voice is gorgeous, however, in slower songs. |

I agree with the previous post. Ai-chin doesn't posses that great voice that could actually compete BUT somehow, she was able to compete with the other avex label artists and the like. What struck me the most were her sincere mood when singing, her beautiful lyrics and tones and her kawaii features in every PV or single she releases. Aside from 'Kingyo Hanabi', 'Cherish' is also her song with less or very infrequent nasal effects. To justify this, listen to it and you'll be hearing another version of Ai-chin's voice.
Koda Kumi, on the other hand, is sexy and sells among the male audience. Her songs are really good, with quality and somehow got me bopping BUT I got so intimidated when she TRIED to sing an English version for 'real emotion'. Ick! Her career start was a boob until 'real emotion' and '1000 Words', that's what my source says, anyway. |

To be honest, when I first heard her voice on SMILY, I got a big "WTF?" look in my face, I thought it was too high-pitched. But then I listened to LOVE COOK and noticed her voice is really versatile (that childish voice on SMILY, the powerful vocals from Cherish, or the mellower/gentler voice on LOVE MUSiC, for example). Her voice may be annoying for people not used to her, but to each their own, I guess. My friends also see her voice as annoying.
In a way, though, I often can't stand Happy Days.

| I love Ai-chan's voice (or different voices, depending on the song) but I don't think it's a classically "good" voice. But that's OK - it's not what Ai is all about. For me, I love the diversity of her songs (and singing voice). |

I actually agree with the ones who say Ai-chan's voice is the best, but she still can make great songs!!
She can sing a lot different kind of songs, from ballads to crazy songs like SMILY.
Ai-chan is one of the singers I keep listening to
Her voice is good enough to be addicted to it  |
