I checked, and you are indeed correct, this is a shortening of "tokoro." In this case, though, tokoro does not mean "place," but "part," as in "part of someone." Well done on picking that up, and thanks  |

No problem. I'm glad that I am not totally awful at Japanese. I'm rubbish at speaking it, but with reading I am much, much better. In translating her songs, it is helpful in learning more colloquial japanese that I dont get much chance to study. |

I agree. I have learnt so much more useful stuff for these translations through conversation with people than I have from books, I think. To understand spoken Japanese, the only thing you can do is to speak it, ね... Still, the nitty-gritty of Japanese grammar, and especially of the evolution of colloquialisations is interesting, so I do love to do some reading about that.  |
