Exactly, Ai totally pwned Utada with Planetarium. Here's a link to the official Oricon monthly ranking page. Yuna Ito's ENDLESS STORY is at 2nd spot and HEAVEN is at 3rd place.
Oh well, sooner or later Ai's going to pwn everyone in the industry.
btw, Oricon just changed their page into a portal like Yahoo! and I'm not really used to it yet. I think the previous design looks better, but now they have English version of ranking too. |

^ Yay! Go Ai-chin! By the way, didn't Oricon have weekly English charts since a long time? |

i think eyn means translated charts. i.e. the charts are in english not japanese, so they have been romanized. there are only weekly singles and weekly albums though xP

It's still faring well in the charts!! It outsold BoA's Dakishimeru when Dakishimeru is in its 2nd week, and PLANETARIUM is well into it's third month on the charts. |

Here's Planetarium sales to date, too bad I missed a few weeks of sales since Oricon removed the sales figure for a while and I didn't realize they put them back lately.
1st week: 90,567 (1)
2nd week: 30,882 (4)
3rd week: 20,495 (8)
4th week: 14,883 (7)
...
7th week: 13,499 (10) - Nov 14
8th week: 12,085 (14) - Nov 21
9th week: 10,428 (13) - Nov 28
10th week: 13,521 (15) - Dec 05
11th week: 11,070 (16) - Dec 12
12th week: 10,422 (21) - Dec 19
Total (exclude 5-6 week): 227,852
Assume those 2 week (week 5, 6) has 14,200 average sales, then the total sales of Planetarium to date will be 256,234. However, compared with SMILY's around 301,000 total sales, Planetarium still has some way to go.
If any of you manage to find out her sales figure for week 5 and 6, please update me! |

I think Hana Yori Dango helped the sales of PLANETARIUM somewhat.... The play the song at the best moments ever in the drama, and the song blends extremely well with the on-stage happening....
I really hope Otsuka Ai hits the 300k mark.
Hana Yori Dango just finished by the way. |
