I read the romanization thing, but seeing as I know absolutely zero Japanese, I didn't think you'd want my help on that matter.
*boggled*
Hmm. How on earth do they calculate the top fans? Because if it's based on total tracks played then we're in a weird order. Haha. I like your picture. I agree that some certain people need avatars, and the similar artists thing needs help. Hmm, maybe it's based on a track/time ratio. Eh. Who knows. Channel-Ai is representing the charts, though.
Geeze! You've got almost more track plays than me and I've been a member of Last.Fm since February! Then again, I didn't get into Ai until about May, and I didn't have any of her music until a few months later... still! Do you listen to anything else?! |

Hahaha, as usual, eyn, you are too funny in your pursuit of Ai-chin perfection. I liked the cap too, that was hilarious! XDDD
Too bad I just wiped my charts, I could be up there too. TT.TT |

I was curious so I decided to look at the 100 tags people have given Ai's music on there. Well it seems Ai has broken into the metal scene! Yes, that's right!
Other personal favorite tags of mine were: visual kei, hello project, hiphop gospel, rap, soul, bebop, cpop, kpop, chinese, korean, and hot :o.
Ai is now ready to take over the world. |

lmao. eyn, that cap was priceless. I haven't listened to much music in awhile. I have to catch up.
hm, I can help you with the romanization thingey if you want, but it's a lot more complicated than you make it seem.
And I hate MusicBrainz. Gah, I was in an argument with this one person over the song title of one of Laruku's songs! I was like "Dude you are so wrong! Look at their website!" And still refuting me and not allowing my change to go through. I was really pissed. Thus is the flaw of Last.fm, out of many. |

I found an article at Lifehacker about Last.fm vs. Pandora, you guys might wanna check Pandora out if you are as innocent about its existence as me. Yep, this is the first time I heard about this site which introduces new songs to you via your listening preferences. However, too bad this service doesn't work with Asian music, so it will only work for you if you listen to lots of English pop or rock songs. |

Hmmm, this all looks very interesting.
I rarely listen to music on the computer (I'm a bit of a hi-fi nerd ) but I've joined and downloaded the appropriates anyway.
I did use the pc to put together, and play, 8 hours of music for our new years party, and it was so good were going to do the same for our birthday(s) party in April (your all inviteded! ), so that should provide a good repesentation of my music tastes. |

I posted this in a thread at Channel-Ai last.fm group discussion forum and I think I should share it here too for those of you who use last.fm but rarely visit the Channel-Ai group page.
---
If you use foobar2000 you can set it up such that only music stored in your fb2k database will be sent to last.fm, which makes it almost impossible to send a track without proper tag to last.fm.
The database allows you to restrict only music files from a certain directory to be included in the database, thus tracks that are not put into this folder will not be included in your fb2k database, and hence will not be sent to last.fm.
For example, I have a folder called "Music" under "My Documents" in Windows XP, under which there's subfolders for different artist and sub-subfolder for albums and singles etc. I restrict FB2K to include only songs put into this "Music" folder to be included in the database and only music files under the folder "Music" will be sent to last.fm. If you downloaded some new music files from bittorrent and want to listen to them without tagging them first, you can feel free to play them in FB2K and not worry about its improper tags, since they won't be sent to last.fm. Once you finally sit down and tag them up properly, you can move these files under "Music" folder and from now on they will be sent to last.fm when you play them.
---
Here's a screenshot that show you the database window in FB2K 0.8.3. If you're using the latest 0.9 version it might look a little different:
I hope this bring some insight to those of you who like last.fm statistics and hate to see songs with ugly tags got sent to last.fm by accident. Also, this is yet another proof to show you how FB2K is the best music player for Windows users. |

for me, i use 2 music players: itunes and realplayer
realplayer is for playing videos and songs i listen to for the first time and a storage for songs i don't really like (i rarely delete songs)
itunes is for normal listening
since last.fm isn't compatible with realplayer, i don't have to worry about "ugly tags"
ps: i know its weird to use 2 different music players >_< but i've always used realplayer until i got an ipod |

I wish there was a way that Last.fm/Musicbrainz could translate the songs into their proper tagging, but I think that would be way too restrictive to users and nearly impossible to do. You can't account for every possible typo in a song, and so on.
I really like people who have great charts, where their music is tagged perfectly in kanji and so forth, but to be honest, I'm just too lazy to go through all of my gigs of music and properly tag the songs. Plus I wouldn't have a clue what I was listening to.
I was checking out Ai's top fans and it seems that Channel-Ai members are still taking up most of the spots. Pretty awesome, if you ask me. eyn! You fell to third place! What happened?! |

Guess who's straggling again?
Anyway I finally had the patience to check out what the hype about Last.fm was all about, and it turns out to be quite the accessory. The sign-up process is now done, signed and sealed. I've attempted to join the Channel-Ai Group, and now comes the real test to see whether user Celsius005 is deemed worthy enough to tread in the vicinitiy of those superior to him. Either way this Last.fm thing sounds kind of fun so I'll use this opportunity to have my computer experience more enjoyable. |

Ha! I'm such a donkey!
A while back I recorded our whole music collection (nearly 400 CDs) in WM Lossless to an external 320gb drive. Since then we've been listening to all our music through XP Media Center (which is great once it's all set up properly!... and it supports unicode ).
However, I've just noticed that for Last.fm to work I needed to check the plugin box in WMP 11. Bummer! |
