I recently watched an anime called BECK, and I have to say, it is a very good 26 episode anime . BECK is about a 14yr old boy's teenage life which he becomes friends with some guys that soon formed a band together. BECK has a sort of drama, comedy, and romance fused together with rock music since this is what this anime is all about. This anime also has some noticable jrock bands like Beat Crusaders, and in one episode The Pillows. This is the best anime that gives a sort a tribute to rock music, second to Black Heaven (another anime). I recommed this anime for those who like jrock or Japanese music . Below is the official site, and some screenshots I took.

oh, the pillows! Well, I'm not really an anime fan, but this sounds semi-cool. I know I saw an anime about an old dude that wanted to make a band again? ha ha, there was this one scene when he looks at a music magazine and there were the names of famous rock bands, but slightly altered. I remember laruku was 'Arc~en~Ciel (without the 'l") and Dir en grey was there misspelt. and pierrot. I thought that was semi-cool and funny. ha ha |

Nice usopp, I just ran out of anime to watch, so I decided to download BECK after reading your posting. I'm not really a J-Rock fan and I don't really know those band you mentioned above, the only J-Rock band that I listen to is Do As Infinity (aren't really that rock) and Laruku (broken::dream's fault). btw, kinda off-topic but you should really listen to HYDE's COUNTDOWN because it's really good.
Judging from the screenshots you posted, I think the drawing style of the anime kinda interests me. I've read some review at anidb and they say the drawing is too flat, but personally I think it looks good the way it is. The symbol of BECK is the stupid dog right? That's my impression about the series, I think they use the dog as the cover for the manga?
Anyway, I'll post what I think about the anime after I finish it. The last anime I finished watching is Tsukuyomi -MOON PHASE-, you can read more about it here. Even though this anime isn't all that great, it is still quite entertaining. You get to see a lot of Neko Mimi in this anime. Neko = cat, Mimi = ear. You will also see lots of pans dropping onto people's head while they are talking. They overdid it so much that it can be very funny, depending on what kind of person you are. I think you'll like it if you like anime like Chobits. |

I think that is Black Heaven, its a weird sci-fi with rock anime. But it's very entertaining to watch and funny .

Yeah, BECK's name originated from their weird looking dog . Although when I watched it, i didn't feel the drawing was flat, I guess I was more focus on the music which in my point of view is very interesting. By the way, thanks for telling me of HYDE'S COUNTDOWN, I am a fan of Arc~en~ciel espicially the songs they sung for Full Metal Alchemist .
If you are still curious about BECK, here's one of the songs from the anime called "Moon on the Water". I think its one of the most beautiful songs from the anime.

I saw and finished this series a few months back. Honestly imo, it's not that good as I thought it'd be. The storyline overall was just a bland and a bore to me. In the series, I thought they over used "that song" wayyy too much, if you guys seen the series, y'all know excatly what song I am talking about haha. I mean, don't get me wrong, the song is good and all but I just thought they just over did it. Beck is one cool dog though btw. Overall I thought the series was "alright", I give it a 6/10.
Just my opinion. |

I finished watching this anime few days ago. Overall I kinda like the drawing and story of this anime, it reminds me of Tokyo Friends where they try to form a band and get famous. I don't really get why they say Koyuki's voice is beautiful because I think it's just quite normal for me. Maho is such a cute girl and that's one of the reason I keep chasing the anime. Yeah, can't get enough of her, one of the prettiest anime girl I've seen, maybe I just like the drawing style of this anime.
I'll probably give this anime 8/10. I don't really like the ending, but still how many anime out there has a satisfying ending (FMA is one of those anime that I actually enjoyed the ending). Those songs that use Kiba as vocal isn't that good, kinda ORANGE RANGE-ish if you ask me lol.
Thanks for the recommendation usopp, it's an intersting anime. |

hm.... i have this all downloaded. i'm gonna go on a BECK marathon after my exams finish. xD
the art style is indeed quite different from the typical anime... and that sometimes puts me off.... Gankutsuoh was such an eyesore to me >_>
I've only heard the opening song to this anime... and let's just say i don't like it... |

BECK! Yeah, thatīs a great anime and itīs has been one of my favorites since i saw it, for some months ago.
Since music is a big part of my life, i found this anime totally addicting. I liked the Intro " Hit in the USA" with Beat Crusaders as well.
Since you are recommending the anime, i would just like to say that the manga Beck is superb as well, and itīs longer then the anime. If you want to see what happens to Koyuki and all the others, read the manga. I know what you are thinking, " can a manga about music be good, you canīt even hear the sounds"
The answer to that question is Yes. |

the ending is pretty rushed... cos the manga is still running...
and the manga is really good...as it continues off their america tour...
AND it promises alot more songs...with koyuki vocals...
I really hope there will be an S2 for the anime...
This anime really influences pple, i had countless frens whom all started worshipping 70s rock after this show
Sorry eyn ~_~ that was habitual.. =D

ooh yeah!!
beck is slightly old now i think...
i didnt perticularily like the way they crammed the entire second manga story arc into one episode *the last episode* but even so it was nicely done. beck's awesome...
i give it a 8.5/10

| This anime was one of animes that used a lot of English. It's not really bad or good either. But i kinda like most of the songs in this anime such as "I've got the feeling","My World Down" and "Slip out". It's not a very good anime but still not bad either. Kinda enjoyable anime to watch for those who like to set up a band..^^ |
