Quite suddenly and unexpectedly, I have an opportunity to go to Japan and teach English. I just got word today that I've been accepted, so I have about two weeks to pack up all my stuff, move most of it to storage (and sell or throw out the rest), renew my passport, get a work visa and plane tickets, cancel all my local services, get a new laptop (mine's broken), and get to Japan. I've never been there before...but why start with a vacation when you can just move there?
I'll be teaching in Yamagata (about 300 km north of Tokyo) for the next year. After that, who knows. It's going to be a very busy couple of weeks, followed by a period of confusion and disorientation (maybe not the right term when you're moving *to* the Orient). I've been studying Japanese quite seriously for the past year and a half, but I know I'm going to be lost for awhile anyway.
All part of the big adventure. |

That's so lucky of you =D. It's so inspiring to me when someone goes to another country and teaches people there english ^^. I hope you have a lovely time there.
I would join you. But I can't.
Hey, maybe after teaching english in Japan. You can teach Japanese in my school in Malaysia *goes to an international school--english spoken most of the time* ^^v |

Japan!!!
I really envy you.
haha~
Anyway, hope you'll be used to living there as soon as possible.
Then, please kindly share any news about Ai with us.
You're much closer to Ai than we after all.
Finally, wish you luck! |

Wow... I'm sooo envious of you! It'll be a whole new life and adventure for you in this foreign land, but I bet it's gonna be a fun and exciting one! After getting my degree, I'm also in hopes of landing a job in Japan. Well that'll take at least 5 more years. All the best in your career and don't forget to post your experiences here at Channel-Ai! |

Stormchild wrote: Also...I recently met a really nice and very cute Japanese girl. I met her here in Vancouver, but she'll move back to Kyoto in December, and I'm planning to go visit her when she gets there. She likes Ai Otsuka too!
So anyway, we'll see. Maybe I won't come back.
That's real lucky. I would die to meet a girl like that haha. If I had such luck as you, I probably won't return to my homeland too. Good luck finding her! |

Well, today I booked my tickets. I'm leaving on November 12, flying to Narita. From there, I'll take the express train to Tokyo, and then the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Yamagata. I will pick up my passport on Friday, and my visa a week later. I bought a new PowerBook and digital camera for my trip too.
Tomorrow I'm going to see the girl again.
I only have a couple more weeks to see her here, but I just have to wait a few more weeks after that to visit her in Kyoto.
When I get to Japan I'll post some pictures. |
