Now I'm going to tell you about a game I just got for my Nintendo DS. The game is called
"Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan" (Hey! Fight! Cheer Squad). It's a rhythm game that uses the Nintendo DS touch screen and stylus to match the game's music.
You use the stylus to tap the rhythm of the songs in the game and I can promise that it's more fun that it sounds iNiS is the gamedeveloper that made Gitaroo Man also made this game...
The GFX of the game is a manga "comic style" and the most of the story is told on the upperscreen. The lower screen is where the gameplay takes place. The male "cheerleaders" are in 3D and dances to the songs/beat.
I don't know how to explain the gameplay rightnow (I'm tired) so just watch this in-game clip.
IN-GAME CLIP (click me!)
Some screens of the game:
Since it's a japanese game all the song in the game is in japanese (JROCK/JPOP).
Here is the tracklist for the game:
Asian Kung-Fu Generation - Loop & Loop
Morning Musume - Koi no Dance Site
175R - Melody
Ulfuls - Gatz daze!!
The Blue Hearts - Linda Linda
Tomoyasu Hotei - Thrill
Nobody Knows - Kokoro Odoru
B'z - Atsuki kodo no hate
Linda Yamamoto - Neraiuchi
Kishidan - One Night Carnival
Road of Major - Taisetsuna mono
Yaida Hitomi - Over The Distance
Orange Range - Shanghai Honey
The Yellow Monkey - Taiyou ga Moeteiru
L'Arc-En-Ciel - Ready Steady Go
Please note that some of the songs are not preformed by original artists. I don't know which songs that is, I just read this in an user review of the game.
Read more about Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan on 1UP or on Eurogamer. |

I have to say that after compleated the game on easy (the game has 4 difficult settings) it's still fun to play! I'm playing on NORMAL mode now and even if it's the same song your playing the small number things (see the pictures and you understand what I mean) are in different places and the beat/timeing is so diffrent...
I hope more ppl buy this game because it's one of the best games on Nintendo DS right now! It's SO addictive! |

I watched the in-game clips, kinda interesting how you use the touch screen to tap in those rhythms. I don't have enough money for gadget like Nintendo DS so heh, I can only imagine how this game will look like in real action. The part I don't really like is how you have to wait for a while during the song for the comic animation, I would rather prefer to have the rhythm thing running from start of the song till the end without stopping halfway. |

| That in-game clip I posted in the 1st post has alot of breaks... I can assure that those waiting parts is worth GOLD when your playing on higher difficulty settings... If you look at this clip you understand why: http://www.pixie.me.uk/ouen_last.wmv <-- That is the last course/song on VERY HARD... I'm still on HARD and it's super fun to play! You get this really good fealing when you get a S-rank after a song... |

I have to agree with this...it's one of the most fun games I've played in a very long time. The stories are wonderful (even without understading Japanese) and suit the songs fantastically.
Oh, and thanks for collecting the videos together! It's a little odd finally being able to see what some of the bands in the game look like. |

Looks like fun
I maybe buy it, but it'll take a while before it will be released in Europe (if they haven't released it yet) I would be really dissapointed if they change the songs to more European styled songs (if they do, i won't buy it).
Is there a multiplayer modus or something? |

Don't count on it... this game is just to Japanese to be released outside of Japan... so the answer is no. Like I mentioned before, you'll learn the menus in like seconds and the story is comic styled so don't worry about the language.
There is a multiplayer mode but you need 1 game each. But if you and a friend has the game it's really fun playing together. There is a Versus mode and a "you play these buttons and I play these"-mode. |

It's on it's way to Europe
http://ds.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=3389
I kind of hope that it does have new songs. If they're rubbish, you can still import the Japanese one, but if they're okay, you can buy both! I'm not quite sure what kind of songs I'd like to see in the European version (I'm assuming they probably will get changed). |
