Would it be easy to change it back to default if you decided that you didn't like it? Confused I'm not sure I wanna change the theme since I'm already so used to this one...plus this is how the school computers are set up and I don't wanna be retarded at those... Tongue

@eyn: Thanks a lot! - It looks great Smile

@Tadabelle-paaan: It is Windows (but then again, I only know that because eyn is running foobar2000, which is a Windows only application (at the moment anyway Smile ))

Firstly Download the style.

Right, to install a theme, you first will need to patch the “uxtheme.dll” file by downloading, and then running this. This will correct your Windows file so that it no longer blocks non-microsoft/3rd party themes. While patching, it will ask you to insert your Windows CD to restore the files you have just patched - Obviously you don't want to do that, so click "cancel" and then the patching will finish. Now all that is required is a quick reboot!

Once up and running again, go to "%Windows%\resources\themes" (usually in Happy\ drive)and paste the desired theme (including the main directory ("areao4")) into here. Open it now, and double-click on "areao4.msstyles"

Here's a screenshot (note the address bar location):

This will bring up the desktop properties interface (should be the "appearance" tab). The "Windows and Buttons" drop down box shoudl already have "areao4" in there, so just click apply - "simple" as that Giggle

Hope that helped Smile

Tom

Haha, I have a quick question about that so if anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated Love
About the part where the theme should appear in the drop down box, I tried many times but I only see the default ones. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Erm... Confused
I am not really sure what is wrong Sad
Anyways, try opening the *.msstyles file within the theme. This should be within the styles' folder, so for me, going to:
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\areao4

and double-clicking on the areao4.msstyles file brings up the "Display Properties" box. From here, your theme should already be selected, so only an "Apply" and "OK" should sort your problem out (I hope Wink Giggle )

If not, then I am not sure Confused I would try the process again and see if you do something differently this time Smile

Hope that was of some help Nod

Mm looks like everyone who mods their theme uses area04 (sorry for being so late to realise that Laughing)

Anyway, this is my current desktop (it doesn't change much at all):

Nah, it's just I think we have all used it as an example, as that was the original one I think it was eyn who used ages back - I use Inspirat myself, it's pretty awesome Nod

My desktop hasn't really changed - I can never seem to adapt to a new wallpaper all that easy (yeh, weird Blank stare Laughing ) - But I guess I should post. I did add a new style of dock at the top of my screen! Smile It autohides, so its not that bad Giggle

Yeah, got bored Laughing
