I’d like to bring your attention to another Hello! Project group: ZYX. Or should I say former Hello! Project, as the group hasn’t released anything since winter, 2003.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

This group is made up of 6 people: 1 of them Mari Yaguchi, of former Morning Musume glory, and the other 5 are Hello! Project Kids: Erika Umeda, Saki Shimizu, Maimi Yajima, Momoko Tsugunaga, and Megumi Murakami. At the time of the groups 2 singles, the girls (not including Mari, who was aged 20) were aged 11 and 12 years of age.

ZYX can be pronounced as “zicks” or “jikkusu” (“jikkusu” is used in Japan, “zicks” may be used elsewhere.)

ZYX’s first single, Iku ZYX! FLY HIGH was released on August 6th, 2003. It is an upbeat, fun, catchy song with funky costumes. Their second single (and last, so far) is titled Shiroi Tokyo, which was released on December 10th, 2003. As you may have guessed from the date it was released and the title (shiroi=white tokyo=tokyo), the song is set in the winter, and the costumes are, too. The song itself is another upbeat, cute song that’s quite catchy.

Yes, these kids are still…kids, but you should try them out. You’ll find that they’re actually not bad.

Could you please get Tokonatsu Musume ZYX Cover? Please?

I like ZYX. I have always wanted to hear them. I wish you would allow the downloads for all there songs instead of just one but it’s cool!! ZYX are cool.

Yeah pitty they only released two albums.. well.. singles Tsuganga was in Berryz Koubou which is another one of my favourite Hello! Project kids group. I have never heard Hello! Project eggs though – are they singers or are they just backstage dancers? Because Berryz Koubou are usually backstage dancers for other groups.

Anyway – article a very short and informative. Thanks!! :)

It’s such a pity they only released two singles. What an odd pronunciation indeed!

Yeah, thanks for prononciation! I was pronouncing it “zee why ex”. Shame they were short-lived, but one was so much older than the others…Thanks for the info, Lainay

Very informative article, Lainay, especially with the pronounciation part. They’re so YOUNG, though! “Shiroi Tokyo” is a very cute little song. It just kind of makes you want to bounce around. ^^
