Pucchi Moni (or Petit Moni) was one of Morning Musume’s subgroups. It started in 1999 with Morning Musume members Sayaka Ichii, Kei Yasuda, and Maki Goto, (1st Gen Pucchi Moni) but was later remade with Kei Yasuda, Maki Goto, and Hitomi Yoshizawa, (2nd Gen Pucchi Moni) and then remade yet again with Hitomi Yoshizawa, Makoto Ogawa, and Coconuts Musume’s Ayaka. (3rd Gen Pucchi Moni)
Pucchi Moni’s first single, Chokotto Love, released on November 25th, 1999, is an upbeat perky song, which sold very well on the charts, with over 1 million sales. This was the first and last single with Sayaka Ichii in Pucchi Moni.
Sayaka left and Hitomi Yoshizawa was added. The first single with Hitomi in it was Seishun Jidai 1.2.3! / Baisekou Daiseikou!, released on July 26th, 2000. Seishun Jidai 1.2.3! is a funky hip-hop/rap song filled with disk scratching. Baisekou Daisekou is a very different song: lots of different parts, instruments, etc. Pucchi Moni’s 3rd Single, BABY! Koi ni KNOCK OUT!, came out on February 28th, 2001 and is an upbeat song which I’m still having trouble to catagorize, but it’s a great song that you should definetly try out. Pucchi Moni’s 4th (and last, to this date) single, Pittari Shitai X’mas! came on November 14th of that year and is a perky, cute, Christmas song.
In 2002, when Maki Goto and Kei Yasuda’s Morning Musume graduations were announced, many subgroups, including Pucchi Moni, had member rearrangement. Maki and Kei left Pucchi Moni, and this time, Makoto Ogawa of Morning Musume and Ayaka of Coconuts Musume were added. There were, however, no singles produced. But they did release WOW WOW WOW on Pucchi Best 4 (an H!P compilation CD) and performed the song at concerts. On August 21st, they released an album- Zenbu! Pucchi Moni which had their full singles along with a few new songs.
You should give Pucchi Moni a try. You will definetly L-O-V-E a song of theirs - if not all of them!!
