Gomattou is another one of those one single Hello! Project groups. Actually, it is the first out of those. It contains solo artists Miki Fujimoto (currently Morning Musume), Maki Goto (former Morning Musume), and Aya Matsuura. Their style is a very hip hop/r&b group, with the whole R&B look to go along with the song style.

Gomattou is made from the names of each the members. Go from Goto, mat from Matsuura, and tou from Fujimoto. The kanji for fuji (藤) can also be pronounced tou.

Their one, and only single, SHALL WE LOVE?. It was released on November 20th, 2002. It contains the song SHALL WE LOVE? along with 2 remixes of it. SHALL WE LOVE? is a very R&B song. The beginning of the song has a spoken conversation among the girls, involving jobs and unreturned CD’s. The girls voices are also very strong; together they’re a very powerful group.

The Cool Groove Mix of SHALL WE LOVE? is a more upbeat version of the song. Some parts of the song are switched, like the beginning conversation is halfway in the song. It’s, in a way, a bit of a techno song, and sounds like something you could dance to in a club.

The Airly Healing Mix has more of a middle eastern feel, with some different drumming and instruments. As the title may suggest, it’s quite soothing to the ear and may be used as a healing song for those total Hello! Project freaks.

In 2004, 2/3 of Gomattou (Maki and Aya) joined with Natsumi to form Nochiura Natsumi, and in 2005, Maki and Aya joined Natsumi Abe and Rika Ishikawa to form DEF. DIVA.

Sound good? Then you should give Gomattou a go!! (and a mat, and a tou! ahem…)

So this is the first of those weird one-time idol groups. Interesting. I liked the two remixes more than the original of this song. The fact that the only lines in the chorus is “Baby, Baby Baby Shall We Love?” is annoying. Thanks for giving us info on yet another H!P group.

Well, the original version of SHALL WE LOVE? has a really weird intro, but I think it’s quite a fresh idea. :) Among the 3 different version, I think prefer the original version. I like the fast drum beats, it makes the song more lively compare to the other 2 remix. Overall, this single is pretty good, the songs are lively and there are different remix included.

Kinda off-topic, but I think those profile pictures are kinda ugly. Maki doesn’t look good, same to Miki, I almost can’t recognize her, in fact. :p
