Someday / Boys ♥ Girls draws an end to the ~12 days of Christmas~, and I must say it ends it on a great note. Someday / Boys ♥ Girls is Kuu’s 30th single overall, it’s also one of the few singles to be released without a limited quantity. Someday / Boys ♥ Girls was used as the theme for “WATERS” , 2006 Japanese film.

The print adds for this single were a bit longer than her others from the collection, seeing as there’s no new single next week to overshadow it. Someday / Boys ♥ Girls cover drew from Japanese and Geisha cultures, I found the red silk very pleasing to look at. With more time to promote, I feel this single is more complete then it’s siblings in the collection.

“someday” is a mid tempo ballad about a girl missing her boyfriend. The music is Koda’s usual hybrid of R&B beats and pop-ish strings and piano. The song itself is quite catchy for a ballad, and is soothing yet melancholic. Vocally, Kuu’s carry a rare delicacy, which isn’t heard very often in her releases.

The PV ties up the story lines from “you“, “lies” and “feel”. The video features many viscous break-ups and some a-little-to-soon make ups. I really liked the scenes were Koda is surrounded by falling photos.

02. Boys ♥ Girls

Its a bit puzzling why this song is an a-side, it clearly takes backseat compared to “someday”. “Boys ♥ Girls” is another mid tempo song, but it contains a dace beat. Kuu’s R&B influences dominate in this track. Throughout the song a disco element is apearant. While it’s a nice song, it’s not an a-side.

Conclusion:
This single shines, especially in the later lackluster releases in the ~12 days of Christmas~. Both songs were at par with kuu’s standards, “Boys ♥ Girls” as a second a-side was odd, but the song is still quality material. Promotion was thorough and attractive, and the packaging was satisfactory. This is a high ending note for the ~12 days of Christmas~.
