Artist: hitomi Release Date: 2008.08.20 Genre: Pop Label: Avex Trax Format: Digital single |
It has been 2 years since her last single Ai no Kotoba, Hitomi is finally back from a 2 year hiatus! On July 11, 2008, she announced that she is currently pregnant and is married to actor Haneda Masayoshi. Of course, this time the news is real. The recent photos shows her with the big tummy, which is more than enough to prove that it`s real now. The promotion picture does not count (I believe that’s when she’s about 1-2 months pregnant…or possibly not yet). For those who don’t know who hitomi is, remember the anime Inu Yasha? hitomi sang the 2nd OP labeled I am.
At 36 years old, her voice hasn’t changed a lot. Even if she’s pregnant, she’s still producing great music and still manages to perform at a-nation 2008. What will happen in the future? She might follow the same path as Yoshika and go on hiatus during and after pregnancy (she’s back from hiatus by the way, which was 2 years), or she might retire like HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR’s Maki. If she does retire, she will be greatly missed as one of the 90’s best female singers, leaving Ayumi Hamasaki, Koda Kumi, and Namie Amuro (list goes on).

1. Fight for your Run☆
An upbeat song, described as “breakbeat meets rock” and is dedicated to all women (from HITOMI LOVE). I really like this song. Strong vocals, gives out a great beat, good chorus transition and the electric guitar adds the touch.

Conclusion:
This song really reminded me of the past songs from her. Her style barely changed in these 15 years (not that I listened to her since when I was 3) and this song still has that 90’s feel. I don’t blame her for releasing only 1 song, but I did expect to hear more from her for the past 2 years. Sadly only personal reasons have been preventing her career. Of course, releasing her best compilation album did not count as something new. She is pregnant, and it’s best not to stress herself too much. I’m waiting to see her a-nation 2008 performance and her future decision on whether she wants to continue after giving birth. I really recommend this song for those who are truly obsessed with artists back in the 90s and have never heard about hitomi before.
