August 25th, 2008 marks the 3rd anniversary of Channel-Ai Community Blog. It is hard to believe we have made it this far, as all of this started out as an experimental move to spread the love of J-Pop music. We acquired many writers throughout the past 3 years, all of them passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to the artists they love. Some went on hiatus due to various reasons but luckily, we never run out of new writers to inject new energy into this blog. This year, 3 new writers: 1337rice, sljinu and DJAeon, joined our crew and they have proved themselves to be the most productive despite being the newest additions to our family!

Ai-chin will be mad if you don't buy this album

LOVE JAM Artist: Ai Otsuka Product Code: AVCD-17538 Release date: 2004.11.17 Debut Ranking: #1 Label: avex trax First Press: 80 page drawing booklet |
Ai-chin’s 2nd album, “LOVE JAM”, was released on 2004.11.17, that is less than 8 months since the release of her debut album, “LOVE PUNCH“. Despite the short time frame between these two albums, no quality of music was compromised, in fact “LOVE JAM” is arguably a tuned up version of “LOVE PUNCH”, showing improvements in both the arrangement of music and the depth of her ballads.
First of all, this draft post has been sitting for quite some time and it’s about time for me to simply press the publish button… So, August 25th is the birthday for Channel-Ai Community Blog but I did not have the time to complete this anniversary post back then. In this post, I will try to sum up what we have achieved in the past two years and what we plan to achieve before hitting our 3rd anniversary. ;)
The idea of Channel-Ai Community Blog was born around mid August 2006. Back then I was thinking if I could make better use of the WordPress I initially installed for my personal blog. Since I am not that active a blogger, I reckon this blogging platform will be put into better use if I somehow allow Channel-Ai forum members to participate as writers for this blog. I discussed my proposal with Jason, my high school friend, and he liked this idea so much that he was willing to be one of the first writer for this blog, showing what could be done to promote the latest release of your favourite J-Pop groups and singers via this blog.
If you’ve been wondering why we had so many articles published on August 25th, and a few more after that, then hopefully this entry’s title will give you a better idea! This is our own unique way to commemorate a special day, the day when Channel-Ai Community Blog published its very first article exactly one year ago (a quite poorly written review compared to what we produce nowadays), Fukuyama Masaharu’s “Tokyo”, written by my good high school buddy Jason.
It’s been an amazing year, and I had a great time working with our team members. Without these awesome folks who spent their free time writing, in my opinion, some of the best J-Pop articles and reviews you can find around the web, Channel-Ai Community Blog wouldn’t be here today. It’s tough to keep a blog going, and I’ve seen many bloggers out there that have given up blogging half-way through due to lack of response of their work. Fortunately, working as a team and the support between team members holds us together through the hard times.

Frienger Released Date: 2006.04.12 Debut Ranking: #2 Label: avex trax Product Code: AVCD-30916 Extra: 5 colour CD jacket |
“Frienger”, Ai Otsuka’s (or intimately referred to as “Ai-chin” by her hardcore fans) 11th single, was released on April 12, 2006, approximately 7 months after the release of her 10th hit single, “Planetarium“. For those of you who are curious about the title, “Frienger” is a word combining “friend” and “ranger”, which relates how a friend is like a ranger who will always fight for you whenever you’re in trouble.
A preview of “Frienger” was first heard when au mobile MUSIC-HDD W41T used it as a TV commercial song. The B-side of this single, “Amai Kimochi Maru Kajiri”, which translates to “Taste Those Sweet Feelings Boldly”, was also used as the commercial song for music.jp, a popular music download site for Japanese mobile phones.
