The album “heavenly” by L’Arc~en~Ciel is oft abandoned by new fans. It doesn’t maintain the importance that “Tierra” had as their debut, nor is it distinguished as being a million seller as with the band’s first #1 junior effort “True”. It’s the middle child of the sakura-era albums that’s lacking much needed attention and needs to be recognized. Prior to the release of this album, one single was produced: “Vivid Colors” (peak at #16), as well as a video single: “and She Said”. About a month after the album’s release the single “natsu no yuu-utsu [time to say good-bye]” (peak at #15) was released, which was a reworked ballad version of the seventh track. Let’s see how this much forgotten album fares.

L’Arc~en~Ciel (French for Rainbow) is very different than the everyday rock bands you hear today. There is something about them that sets them apart. They, along with the band GLAY, are the last of what some people refer to as the “Early 90’s Greats”. The band currently consists of hyde on vocals, ken on guitar, tetsu on bass, and yukihiro on drums. Yes, all their names are lowercase.
L’Arc~en~Ciel (Laruku for short) have been around a long time, 12 years on a major label (since 1994), and almost sixteen if their indie days are included. Since the beginning they were different from most bands, dressing with a Mediterranean gypsy fashion rather than the black and gloomy clothes that was so prevalent in the indie rock scene at the time. They don’t like to play by the rules; they like to make them up. L’Arc~en~Ciel is one of those bands that go beyond a rigid genre of rock, just as their name suggests, they explore every color of the rainbow, from punk to metal to pop. They can be dark and haunting at times (finale), light and fun (Driver’s High), or slow and beautiful (Pieces). This may be cause for their large fan base in and outside of Japan: the visual rocker and the pop listener will both find something they enjoy. Their music transcends the language barrier. And there is no doubt that L’Arc~en~Ciel has left a big mark on, not only the Japanese music scene, but also Japanese culture, from video games to manga to fashion.

Locofrank is one of the rock band which formed by three young guys from Osaka – 木下 正行(Vo/Ba)、森 勇介(Gt/Vo) and 笹原 達也(Ds/Cho). |
I will call Locofrank as Japanese Greenday, but I am sure they not gonna release any song like Japanese Idiot. Those who love Greenday should give Locofrank a try, I know you will love their songs. Now I only found Japan having lotsa “not that famous” rock bands are really good, just like the doa I introduced to all earlier on. I think they are even better than L’Arc~en~Ciel. Anyway, it’s just my 2 cents and I truly hope this won’t offence any L’Arc~en~Ciel fans.
Shared Time is their new single which released on 25th of August 2005. The official site entitled this as mini album because there included 5 songs. The first song Recall is kinda noisy if you rarely get involve with rock, but this is the song I love most in this mini album. For the second song Share, I hope you guys can concentrate on the vocal because I found Kinoshita san (木下 正行) was trying to play with his vocal and that’s really funny. Besides, I love the melody of guitar. The next song will be Put Feeling Into the Shadow, compare to other songs this song is not that noisy but more likely to be american rock song. If you don’t listen to the lyrics, you may think that’s a song which sang by any US rock band. The 4th song The Ones who Seek is basically similar with the previous songs, so I will not elaborate too much on this and you guys should find this out by your own. The last song OVERJOYED, obviously this song is softer than other songs which means the vocal is fully exposed. From this song, you will see how funny his vocal is but definately I am saying the vocal sucks. You really should try this out in order find out why I think the vocal is funny.

- Recall
- Share
- Put Feeling into the Shadow
- The Ones who Seek

I suppose most of you guys never heard this band before, that’s why i am here to introduce them for you all. Why the band named doa? I guess doa came from the members name, Daiki, Ohta and Akihito. Sorry for the lack of the details in their profile, basically this band is not that famous so it is a bit tough to get the details but I was suprised when i found the vocal Daiki Yoshimoto is a racer, that’s really cool.
doa is a rock band anyway, but i suppose they mainly playing with soft rock which a bit similar to The Brilliant Green. The first song Kimi Dake ni Kizuite Hoshii attracted me, the melody of this song is great. Can you imagine a racer having such of great vocal? Second song Tell Me What I Got to Do is a English song, the vocal Daiki having a good pronunciation and he doesn’t has any Japs accent at all. The last song Kannin Fukuro wo Kirisake is an unplugged song, this song sounds a bit funny, i really hope you can try it out by your own.
